Are We About to Bottle Top 4??? (Maybe it is a good thing...)

It is no secret. Manchester United's form away from home this season has been extremely dire.

Interestingly though, we are only 5th on the away form table ahead of Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs. Regardless, we have shown a consistent level of fragility in away games, so much so that it was obvious we were losing against West Ham.

However, the manner of the loss is what is irritating. That attempt at saving the ball by De Gea was pathetic, bordering on sabotage.

Benrahma's attempt at goal was more of a pass that it was a shot from 25 friking yards. I couldn't believe my eyes when I watched the highlights of that fumble. It is like the players believe that they should lose away games and they are manifesting the script.

As a result, Manchester United has allowed Liverpool into the top four race, which should have been concluded a few weeks ago.

It is a terrible spot to be in for fans of Man United, because now the club that handed them their biggest defeat this season might just end up snatching their Champions League spot at the death

Fortunately, there may be a silver lining. Manchester United have 3 homes games and only one away game against a relegation-safe Bournemouth. Also, the players are getting their first week-break after playing every three days for nearly the entire season.

In fact, Eric Ten Hag has just given the players a 2-day break from training in preparation for our first home game against a resurgent Wolves. A win in this game will be a massive boost to the clubs goal of getting Champions League.

On a side note, maybe failing to get Champions League is a good thing. It would ultimately devalue the club and force the glazers to sell cheaper. It is probably why they are not in such a rush to sell in the hopes they can demand more once we cement our place in the top 4.

It will be interesting to explore this angle in the next post.
