I feel part of it the way soccer players are idolised hence giving them over inflated egos - In rugby there is very little ego. There is none of the "punk" mentality that seems to pervade soccer.

Yep, can't argue with that my friend. Not all of them, but definitely lots of them are overpaid, arrogant and privileged and think themselves above referees and most others in society.
