Cagliari pull off a feat: they come back from two goals down and beat Parma 3-2 in the Serie B playoff semi-final

Cagliari have pulled off an incredible comeback and beat Parma 3-2 in the first leg of the Serie B playoff semi-final at the Unipol Domus. The match was full of emotions and twists. Parma were two goals up at the end of the first half, but in the second half Cagliari showed character and grit and secured a crazy win. Zito Luvumbo was the hero of the night: the Angolan striker scored a brace and earned the penalty converted by Gianluca Lapadula, the team's top scorer with 23 goals. Parma had started strong and had broken the deadlock at the 10th minute with a shot by Adrian Benedyczak after a nice combination on the left. Cagliari had replied with a couple of shots by Marco Mancosu, saved by Gianluigi Buffon. At the 26th minute, the ducali had doubled their lead with Simon Sohm, who had skipped past Gabriele Zappa with a feint and had beaten Alessio Radunovic at the near post. Cagliari had tried to react with a rocket by Nahitan Nandez pushed away by Buffon.
In the second half Buffon had stayed in the dressing room for a muscle problem and Leandro Chichizola had come on. Claudio Ranieri had changed two players, bringing on Alessandro Deiola and Luvumbo instead of Marko Rog and Leonardo Pavoletti. Cagliari had raised their centre of gravity and at the 68th minute they had reduced the gap: Nandez had served Luvumbo, who had volleyed and surprised Chichizola. The crowd at the Unipol Domus had gone wild and had pushed the red and blues to look for the equaliser. The equaliser had arrived at the 84th minute: contact in the box between Luvumbo and Valentin Mihaila, referee Colombo had blown the whistle for a penalty; Lapadula had stepped up to the spot and had not missed: 2-2. But Cagliari had not stopped and at the 90th minute they had completed their comeback: Luvumbo had got rid of Ricardo Osorio and Elias Cobbaut with a great individual move and had fired a missile that had gone into the net. Big celebration at the Unipol Domus: 3-2, waiting for the return leg on 03/06/2023 in Parma.
