Al enterarme de esta comunidad y ver las distintas publicaciones recordé una pequeña anécdota con mi papá. El ama la mecánica y la jardinería y siempre que se acuerda me cuenta anécdotas a veces divertidas, a veces para reflexionar pero siempre buenas para recordar.
When I heard about this community I remembered a little anecdote with my dad. He loves mechanics and gardening and whenever he remembers he tells me anecdotes that are sometimes funny, sometimes thought provoking, but always good to remember.

Una de las tantas veces que he ido a su casa, mientras el reparaba cosas en lo que conocemos en la familia como ¨El cuarto de los juguetes¨ que es su cuarto de herramientas, saco este objeto que se muestra en la primera foto y empezó a contarme lo siguiente:
Cuando solo era un aprendiz de mecánico en el área textil, recuerdo orgulloso que después de un año de estudio por fin estaba al frente de esas maquinas tan ruidosas. En ese entonces me asignaron con un mecánico con mucha mas experiencia que yo
40 telares, no eran los mas modernos pero no me importaba porque
eran mios por 8 horas al dia. Sinceramente no me asusto esa responsabilidad, era el segundo con mayor nota del curso y me sabia todas las medidas y especificaciones de esos telares y otros modelos.
Sin temor alguno, agarre mi caja de herramientas nuevas y todo mi ego y fui al encuentro de mis maquinas. Debo decirles que ese primer día fue un total desastre, a pesar de saber todas las medidas, no pude reparar nada. Si note que el mecánico con el que trabaje sonreía y hablaba con otros mas antiguos, me fui derrotado a mi casa pensando que tal vez no servia para esto.

Without any fear, I grabbed my new toolbox and all my ego and went to meet my machines. I must tell you that first day was a total disaster, even though I knew all the measurements, I could not repair anything. I did notice that the mechanic I worked with was smiling and talking to other older mechanics, I went home defeated thinking that maybe I was no good for this.
Al día siguiente antes de empezar, me llamo el mecánico y me dijo: Los telares no son como las otras maquinas, con el tiempo adquieren personalidad propia, por mas que dos telares sean parecidos nunca tendrán medidas exactamente iguales. Ser mecánico textil no es una profesión, es un arte yo dude ante sus palabras y aunque acepte sus consejos, no los seguí.
Pasaron los días y aunque logre reparar muchas fallas, habían varias teteras que se resistían. Hubo uno en particular que presentaba falla en la lanzadera, la gradué exacto al manual y nada ¡es mas! gradué el telar completo y nada. El mecánico me dijo: Habla con el telar, piensa que necesita el, a lo mejor en la lanzadera la volví a revisar y estaba en buenas condiciones. Me dije no y aunque logre hacerlo trabajar, no funcionaba a un 100%.
Fue una lucha, hasta que un día después de poner en marcha el telar me arrojo la lanzadera, una y otra vez me golpeo la espalda, decidí probar una nueva y mas nunca fallo. Desde ese día mas nunca discutí con los telares
The next day before starting, the mechanic called me and told me: The looms are not like other machines, with time they acquire their own personality, even if two looms are similar they will never have exactly the same measurements. Being a textile mechanic is not a profession, it is an art. I hesitated before his words and although I accepted his advice, I did not follow it.
The days went by and although I managed to repair many faults, there were several teapots that resisted. There was one in particular that presented failure in the shuttle, I graduated it exactly according to the manual and nothing! I graduated the whole loom and nothing. The mechanic told me: Talk to the loom, think about what it needs, maybe I checked the shuttle again and it was in good condition. I said no and although I managed to make it work, it was not working at 100%.
It was a struggle, until one day after starting up the loom I threw the shuttle, again and again it hit me in the back, I decided to try a new one and it never failed. From that day on I never argued with the looms again.
Luego de una anécdota como esa, que empezó con el jugando con sus herramientas y termino con ambos sentados en el mueble tomando café, continuo relatándome mas historias parecidas a esta. Sin duda, una de mis tardes favoritas junto a mi persona favorita.
After an anecdote like that, which started with him playing with his tools and ended with both of them sitting on the furniture drinking coffee, he continued telling me more stories similar to this one. Without a doubt, one of my favorite afternoons with my favorite person.
