RE: How to program a new battery to you Honda CR-V

in Hive Motors3 years ago

My greetings @article61.
Thanks for sharing this simple but useful instruction for those who own a Honda CR-V. Watching your video reminded me that normally a PCM requires at least 9.5 V to fire the inyectors to start the engine, and a battery with 90% of charge, i.e. 11.34 V, would come below that value when cranking the it. So, this "auto stop/start" system is a way to confirm that.

Once again, thanks for sharing-

Hi @ogutierrez, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. It’s a strange set of parameters that dictate the start/stop operation. You can have a battery showing over 12v that will reliable start the vehicle over and over, yet it will still not allow the stop/start to work. I can only assume that the ECU takes into consideration the capacity of the battery to hold this voltage during cranking. I remember when I used to test this with what we called a “drop tester” (quite a crude tool). Of course, there is also the scenario when a battery has the voltage but is low on amps. And then there’s the battery sulphate levels too! Lots of factors to consider and maybe something worth posting about in the future…

Hi @article61.
I will be looking foward to your posting about those battery factors.
Take care.....
