Nothing evokes more nostalgia for me than my first photos from Greece, taken on that trip to the island of Crete.

I remember that very hot day: the scorching sun, the emerald sea, the palm trees, and the famous beach I had only seen in pictures before.

Back then, I had no idea how many times I would return to Greece or how many other places I would see. I certainly didn’t know that years later, I would look at these old photos through a completely different lens.

It’s funny how our memories of travelling change over time. You forget exactly what you did that day, where you went afterwards, and what happened next. And sometimes, all it takes is one old picture to transport you right back there, to the very beginning.

More than sixteen years have passed since then. There have been many other trips, other beaches, and other experiences along the way. But the first ones remain somehow special.
Perhaps because you can never experience a place for the first time twice.
