Craziest Thing to Find in the Kitchen!
Imagine if I did not cook the green veggie yet. I wonder how much it this little fella would be able to eat!
Cue Homeschooling Momma
Living in a desert country, my kids don't have the opportunity to see much live insects and animals as other kids do. I immediately called them to show this small visitor.
I put the caterpillar in a small container so they can observe it, but before I knew it, they already put it on a tree outside.
Hey, what happens to the caterpillar later on when it matures?
It becomes a butterfly!
We decided to put the caterpillar in a jar to observe how long it will take to change into a butterfly.
Will it still grow in size? Or is it really this small? It is only around 1.5 inches!
Day 2

This is our little green fella on it's second day of captivity. It looks quite well, adapting on its new "habitat".
Question of the Day
What do you call this dark line that goes through the caterpillar's length?
I tried to search for it but I don't seem to find the answer. Or I'm not looking enough, perhaps?
We'd love to hear from you.

I think it's their equivalent of a spinal cord, possibly nervous system? It's been a really, really long time XD
That little caterpillar is pretty lucky to have a protected jar and supplied food to butterfly in.
I was thinking it's the nervous system too. I need to validate. :D
It's on Day 3 today. We're anxious to see it's transformation. <3
Wow, this is a very impressive post!
I also once almost cooked a caterpillar, it was hiding in broccoli and the family could not help staring at it!
Stay safe my friend, thanks for sharing (loved the gif too!)
Yay, thanks @katerinaramm! My sister was also telling, imagine if I did not see it, and cooked it. 😳
We're stuck at home right now, as I have small kids. Can't take the risk this time... Keep safe too!

Wow, so sweet to see and read all this. I wonder whether the caterpillar butterflies (what a nice verb!) in a jar. As an social unscientist that I am I can tell you a lot about oppression and little about alimentary tracts other then what's yummy leaves traces, too. ;-) @tipu curate !COFFEEA !TEA !LOVE !invest_vote
Thank you @andrepol! It's really hot outside here on this side of the world these days, so we're afraid the caterpillar will die if we let it out... So is that "flowing line" a part of the nervous system or alimentary canal? We'd really love to know. :D
It looks like blood flowing to me :)
I'm leaning more to that, especially that it flows upwards.
