photo quest entry titled: lofoten

there is an amazing outdoor sculpture exhibition spread across much of northern norway titled skupturlandskap nordland. worthy individual works of art are placed in the impressive landscape, be it mountains, fjords, or arctic nature. the one placed on the island of lyngvær in the lofoten islands is created by the american artist dan graham. it consists of 3 huge panels of curved slightly transparent mirrors facing across the water toward the majestic mountain background. these photos were taken during a visit with some friends living there

the guy in green shorts is me. the one in the white top taking the photo is my wife. the other folks are our friends with their dog paku. the reflected landscape is unevenly distorted which gives a fascinating effect. at the same time the glass is transparent enough so one can faintly see the mountainous landscape behind the mirrors

if you are ever in norway do not miss the opportunity to visit lofoten. the dramatic nature is unique and while you are there check out this and other wonderful works of art in the skulpturlandskap exhibition.
