We are standing on the famous Roman bridge, the emblem of Nyons, taking in every detail of its structure, so impressive it commands admiration. Built in the 14th century, this single-arch stone bridge gracefully spans the Eygues River. Its humpback profile, typical of medieval bridges, reflects exceptional craftsmanship and remarkable ingenuity for its time. From its deck, the view over the old town, the surrounding hills, and the olive groves is simply magnificent.
It’s easy to see why it remains one of the most photographed landmarks in the Drôme Provençale.
Nous sommes sur le fameux pont roman, emblème de Nyons, et l'on s'évertue à le découvrir sous toutes ses coutures, tant il impose le respect. Construit au XIVème siècle, cet ouvrage d’une seule arche en pierre de taille enjambe avec élégance la rivière Eygues. Son profil en dos-d’âne, typique des ponts médiévaux, témoigne d’un savoir-faire exceptionnel et d’une ingéniosité rare pour l’époque. Depuis son tablier, la vue sur la vieille ville, les collines environnantes et les oliveraies est tout simplement splendide.
On comprend vite pourquoi il est l’un des symboles les plus photographiés de la Drôme provençale.
