Conocí a mi esposo cuando tenía solo 13 años. Comenzamos siendo compañeros de clases, amigos, novios y unos 10 años después nos casamos. Ahora llevamos casi 16 años juntos.
Para ese momento jugaba béisbol en la escuela de béisbol menor de su comunidad. Entrenaba día y noche, en las mañanas antes de ir a clases corría unos cuantos kilómetros. Después de clases trabajaba con su entrenador personal para mejorar su velocidad, sus movimientos y todo en general. El tenía un gran sueño y siempre hablábamos de eso, era una conversación que se repetía una y otra vez, compartió su mayor sueño conmigo.. firmar un contrato con un equipo de béisbol profesional.
Pasaron los años y juntos soñamos con eso, se convirtió en mi sueño también porque día a día oraba para que sus dolores musculares, sus derrotas, sus tropiezos cambiarán a solo logros y triunfos. Me enamoré también del béisbol así que no me perdía sus juegos los fines de semana. Recuerdo que me escapaba de casa para ir a verlo, le decía a mis padres que estaría en casa de una amiga y me iba al estadio a verlo jugar. Para mí era lo mejor que podía hacer.
I met my husband when I was only 13 years old. We started out as classmates, friends, boyfriends and about 10 years later we got married. We have been together for almost 16 years now. At the time, he was playing baseball at his community's minor baseball school. He trained day and night, in the mornings before going to class he ran a few kilometers. After school he worked with his personal trainer to improve his speed, his movements and everything in general. He had a great dream and we always talked about it, it was a conversation that kept repeating over and over, he shared his biggest dream with me ... signing a contract with a professional baseball team.
Years passed and together we dreamed of it, it became my dream too because day by day I prayed that his muscle aches, his defeats, his stumbling blocks would change to only achievements and triumphs. I fell in love with baseball, too, so I didn't miss his games on the weekends. I remember that I ran away from home to go see him, I told my parents that I would be at a friend's house and I would go to the stadium to see him play. For me it was the best I could do.
3 años despues, llegó el día. Los Tigres de Detroit enviaron a uno de sus busca talentos y al verlo jugar le dieron la oportunidad. FIRMÓ!
Recuerdo que no lo había visto tan nervioso y tan feliz a la vez. Yo me sentía orgullosa y nerviosa porque sabía lo que venía, el tendría que irse a su academia para seguir formándose como pelotero profesional. Vivimos momentos difíciles, comenzaron las despedidas y cada uno tuvo que tomar un rumbo diferente pero siempre conectados gracias a la tecnología.
3 years later, the day came. The Detroit Tigers sent one of their talent scouts and seeing him play gave him the opportunity. SIGNED! I remember not having seen him so nervous and so happy at the same time. I was proud and nervous because I knew what was coming, he would have to go to his academy to continue training as a professional baseball player. We live in difficult times, the farewells began and each one had to take a different course but always connected thanks to technology.
Así pasamos años, entre despedidas y reencuentro éramos felices. Y llegó el momento de jugar en Venezuela con su equipo favorito Bravos de Margarita. Fue una gran emoción saber que estaría aquí jugando en un estadio donde todos lo podíamos ver jugar. Fue una de las cosas más bonitas que vivimos siendo novios.
So we spent years, between farewells and reunion we were happy. And it was time to play in Venezuela with his favorite team, Bravos de Margarita. It was a great emotion knowing that he would be here playing in a stadium where we could all see him play. It was one of the most beautiful things we lived as boyfriends.
Tuvo un gran éxito en si primera temporada y tuvo excelentes números. Era en ese momento la estrella y la revelación del equipo, tuvo fama por algún tiempo 🥰

Y no solo aquí en Venezuela pues desde que se fue a Estados Unidos tuvo muchos logros y triunfos, llegó a ser pitcher del año en 2008 de la liga de verano. Fue prospecto del año y su futuro era prometedor, tenía todo a su favor en cuanto al idioma, condiciones físicas y disciplina. Nadie imaginaba lo que estaba por venir.
And not only here in Venezuela because since he went to the United States he had many achievements and triumphs, he became pitcher of the year in 2008 in the summer league. He was a prospect of the year and his future was promising, he had everything going for him in terms of language, physical condition and discipline. No one imagined what was to come.

Después de jugar muchas ligas, viajar por todo Estados Unidos, subir de liga cambiar a los Cachorros de Chicago y llegar a la AA, vino la lesión en su hombro.
Lo que comenzó con un dolor muscular recurrente se convirtió en 3 horas en un quirófano en la ciudad de Chicago. Solo y con mucho miedo superó está adversidad. Se recuperó y en poco tiempo estaba de nuevo en el estadio pero el dolor no desaparecía. Fue atendido por los mejores médicos, con los mejores tratamientos médicos, con la mejor terapia, con ayuda psicológica y mucho reposo. Pero las cosas de Dios son como son no hubo vuelta atrás.
Lucho por dos años contra su propio cuerpo, tuvo fe y esperanza de volver a subir a un montículo y jugar pelota. Quiso volver y hacer lo propio en casa, con su equipo. Mantuvo la lucha pero lamentablemente nada cambió. Su hombro no volvió. Aser el mismo y ya no pudo hacer más que dejar las cosas andar. Así pues, regreso a Venezuela con el corazón y los sueños rotos, la esperanza perdida, la incertidumbre y tantas preguntas en mente. Preguntas que también me hago. Por qué?
After playing many leagues, traveling across the United States, moving up in the league, switching to the Chicago Cubs, and reaching the AA, the injury to his shoulder came. What started with recurring muscle pain turned into 3 hours in an operating room in the city of Chicago. Alone and with great fear he overcame this adversity. He recovered and in a short time he was back in the stadium but the pain did not disappear. He was attended by the best doctors, with the best medical treatments, with the best therapy, with psychological help and plenty of rest. But the things of God are as they are, there was no turning back. Fighting for two years against his own body, he had faith and hope to go back up on a mound and play ball. He wanted to return and do the same at home, with his team. He kept the fight but unfortunately nothing changed. His shoulder did not return. Grab the same and could not do more than let things go. So, I return to Venezuela with broken hearts and dreams, lost hope, uncertainty and so many questions in mind. Questions that I also ask myself. Why?
Nos tocó superar las cosas del destino y comenzar de nuevo, nos casamos, tuvimos hijas, trabajamos y sacamos de nosotros la rabia y el resentimiento por lo que no fue. Más o menos dos años después de estar aquí el béisbol volvió a su camino. Comenzó desde abajo entrenando a algunos muchachos, y así pues llegó el trabajo que ahora desempeña con amor y pasión. Se convirtió en entrenador y motivador de muchachos que quieren firmar así como el lo hizo, muchachos que tienen el mismo sueño que el tuvo, que quieren ser peloteros profesionales. Trabaja para su equipo natal Bravos de Margarita con sus academia yen temporada con el equipo que lo vio jugar, y formar parte del staff técnico para el es un gran honor.
We had to overcome the things of fate and start again, we got married, we had daughters, we worked and we got rid of anger and resentment for what was not. About two years after being here, baseball got back on track. He started from below training some boys, and so the work that he now performs with love and passion came. He became a coach and motivator for boys who want to sign just like he did, boys who have the same dream he had, who want to be professional baseball players. He works for his native team Bravos de Margarita with his academies and in season with the team that saw him play, and being part of the technical staff for him is a great honor.

Porque es mi mayor orgullo, porque admiro su valentía, su coraje, su humildad, su capacidad de reponerse, su nobleza, su sinceridad, su pasión y entrega, su amor a lo que hace, su amor a su historia y a su pasado. Es mi mejor ejemplo de lo que es salir adelante pese las adversidades y por supuesto me siento parte de sus triunfos. Para mí siempre serás un Guerrero, y uno que merece todo mi amor.
