I must admit that I have never been very in favor of adopting a cat as a pet, even though since my adolescence I have lived surrounded by dogs, first in the maternal home and later when I formed my own home. My two sons as children had some dogs as pets although the youngest was once given a baby turtle that stayed with us, until we decided to release it in a more consonal habitat and surrounded by other turtles.
The cat is a carnivorous mammal that, like the dog, is often used as a pet in homes. There is evidence of the domestication of this animal from ancient Egypt, where it was raised in order to control the populations of rats and other harmful rodents. As a result of genetic mutations, varied crosses, and artificial selection, there are numerous breeds or varieties, some of which do not have fur or tails.
During the Middle Ages, cats were believed to be relatives of witches and sorcerers, which is why they were burned alive or thrown into the void from the top of existing buildings. Subsequently, in the Western world the belief would arise, mainly among superstitious people, that a sudden crossing with a black cat, was an omen of bad luck or future misfortunes, however, among Eastern cultures, the cat is quite the opposite, for example, in Tibetan Buddhism it is considered a sacred and revered animal.
Currently, there is a broad consensus around the benefits of adopting this quadruped as a pet among family members, particularly due to their personal hygiene habits.
This cat lives in the surroundings of the building where I live, has been sleeping under the parking vehicles for a few years and is constantly fed by the janitor, which is why he does not leave the residence. On some occasions I have come across it when entering or leaving, and I have decided to make improvised photographic sessions, and I must confess that, unlike dogs, this animal has great potential as a top model, as evidenced by the images that accompany this post.
Debo reconocer que nunca he sido muy partidario de adoptar un gato como mascota, aún cuando desde mi adolescencia he vivido rodeado de perros, primero en el hogar materno y posteriormente cuando formé mi propio hogar. Mis dos hijos cuando niños, tuvieron algunos perros como mascotas aunque al menor le obsequiaron en una oportunidad una tortuga bebé que permaneció con nosotros, hasta que decidiéramos liberarlo en un hábitat más cónsono y rodeado de otras tortugas.
El gato es un mamífero carnívoro que, al igual que el perro, suele ser empleado como mascota en los hogares. Existen evidencias de la domesticación de este animal desde el antiguo Egipto, donde se le criaba con la finalidad de controlar las poblaciones de ratas y otros dañinos roedores. Como resultado de mutaciones genéticas, cruces variados y selección artificial, existen numerosas razas o variedades, algunas de las cuales no poseen pelaje o cola.
Durante la Edad Media, se creía que los gatos eran familiares de las brujas y hechiceros, razón por la cual se los quemaba vivos o se les arrojaba al vacío desde lo alto de las edificaciones existentes. Posteriormente, en el mundo Occidental surgiría la creencia, fundamentalmente entre las personas supersticiosas, que un cruce súbito con un gato negro, era un augurio de mala suerte o desventuras futuras, sin embargo, entre las culturas orientales, el gato es todo lo contrario, por ejemplo, en el budismo tibetano se le considera un animal sagrado y venerado.
En la actualidad, existe un amplio consenso en torno a los beneficios que trae entre los miembros de la familia, el adoptar este cuadrúpedo como mascota, particularmente por sus hábitos de higiene personal.
Este gato vive en los alrededores del edificio donde resido, tiene unos pocos años durmiendo debajo de los vehículos del estacionamiento y es constantemente alimentado por la conserje, razón por la cual, no abandona la residencia. En algunas ocasiones me lo he topado al entrar o salir, y he decidido realizar sesiones fotográficas improvisadas, y debo confesar que, a diferencia de los perros, este animal tiene una gran potencial como top model, tal como lo evidencian las imágenes que acompañan este post.
