Architecture. I love it. It's so nice to see all the different styles in buildings. Very old ones, modern ones, ... every style has his own unique characteristics. For this challenge I picked the Central Station Railway in Antwerp, Belgium.
This one is taking at platform level 1:
The construction started in 1895 and was finished in 1905. It's a typically sample of the railway station architecture in Belgium. In 2014 the magazine Mashable awarded Antwerpen-Centraal the first place for the most beautiful railway station in the world.
But we cannot stay in the past. The railway station needed to expand due to the high speed trains. So a new part was build in a very modern style. The construction started in 1998 and most of it was completed by 2007. Everywhere you can find the typical red accents, because this is the color of Antwerp City. The station was awarded a Grand Prix at the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards in 2011
If you ever have the opportunity to visit this place, I can recommended it. Just room around in the station and enjoy all the beauty!
