Piet Mondrian, the "painter of the squares" was a Dutch painter who took abstract art to its last consequences. By means of a radical simplification, both in composition and in coloring, he tried to expose the basic principles that underlie appearance.
Neoplasticism is an artistic current that was developed in 1917 in Holland by Piet Mondrian in collaboration with Theo van Doesburg. The emergence of this movement at the beginning of the 20th century places it within the currents of modern art.
One of the characteristics of Neoplasticism is the preponderant use of primary colors. At the same time, this movement is related to cubism by the representation of geometric figures. Although Neoplasticism is widely known for its paintings, it is also developed in other relevant areas of the plastic arts, such as sculpture and architecture.
For this make-up, I was inspired by several of his works, but especially by “Composition C (No.III) with Red, Yellow and Blue”. Mondrian contributes to abstract visual language to a great extent despite using a relatively small canvas. The thick black brushstroke defines the edges of the different geometric figures.
Piet Mondrian, el «pintor de los cuadraditos» fue un pintor holandés que llevó el arte abstracto hasta sus últimas consecuencias. Por medio de una simplificación radical, tanto en la composición como en el colorido, intentaba exponer los principios básicos que subyacen a la apariencia.
El neoplasticismo es una corriente artística que fue desarrollada en 1917 en Holanda por Piet Mondrian en colaboración con Theo van Doesburg. El surgimiento de este movimiento a comienzos del siglo XX lo coloca dentro de las corrientes de arte moderno.
Una de las características del neoplasticismo es el uso preponderante de los colores primarios. Al mismo tiempo, este movimiento guarda relación con el cubismo por la representación de figuras geométricas. Aunque el neoplasticismo es sumamente conocido por sus pinturas, también es desarrollado en otras áreas relevantes de las artes plásticas, como por ejemplo, en la escultura y en la arquitectura.
Para este maquillaje me inspire en varios de sus trabajos pero sobre todo en “Composition C (No.III) with Red, Yellow and Blue”. Mondrian contribuye al lenguaje visual abstracto en gran medida a pesar de usar un lienzo relativamente pequeño. La pincelada gruesa y negra define los bordes de las diferentes figuras geométricas.
