Recientemente me di cuenta de que a la hora de comprar productos de belleza me tomo mi tiempo para pensar y analizar bien esta adquisición, no es común que tome una decisión apresurada. Esto es así por dos motivos: 1.- No me gusta comprar cosas que sé que no voy a acabar 2.- No me gusta gastar mi dinero de forma impulsiva. Así pues, para mí comprar productos de belleza es un ritual que disfruto, pues al mismo tiempo aprendo muchísimo sobre productos, ingredientes y marcas, y termino sabiendo exactamente qué es lo que estoy usando sobre mi piel. En esta publicación les contaré qué es lo que suelo hacer cuando voy a comprar un producto que desconozco o que nunca he usado antes. Puede tomarme algunos días pero termina valiendo la pena pues todos los productos que tengo realmente los uso y me funcionan, si no fuera así de inmediato los regalaría para no acumular cosas.
Recently I realized that when it comes to buying beauty products I take my time to think and analyze well this acquisition, it is not common for me to make a hasty decision. This is for two reasons: 1.- I don't like to buy things that I know I won't finish 2.- I don't like to spend my money impulsively. So, for me buying beauty products is a ritual that I enjoy, because at the same time I learn a lot about products, ingredients and brands, and I end up knowing exactly what I am using on my skin. In this post I will tell you what I usually do when I go to buy a product I don't know or have never used before. It may take me a few days but it ends up being worth it because all the products I have I actually use and they work for me, otherwise I would immediately give them away so I don't accumulate things.
1.- Leer la página web/instagram del producto para saber todo lo que tengo que saber de primera mano - 1.- Read the website/instagram of the product to know everything I need to know first hand:
Empiezo confiando en la marca y en que realmente me contará todo lo que necito saber 😆. A veces es suficiente con mirar la parte posterior del producto y ver ingredientes, fecha de caducidad, recomendaciones, etc. En otras ocasiones esta información es muy limitada para la compañía ofrece más datos sobre el producto en su página web. Por ejemplo, así funciona la página web de la marca Living (Venezolana), allí puedes aprender mucho sobre cómo armar rutinas con los productos que ya tienes, ver cuáles productos necesitas de acuerdo a tu tipo de piel, etc.
I start by trusting the brand and trusting that it will really tell me everything I need to know 😆. Sometimes it's enough to look at the back of the product and see ingredients, expiration date, recommendations, etc. At other times this information is too limited for the company to offer more data about the product on its website. For example, this is how the Living (Venezuelan) brand's website works, there you can learn a lot about how to build routines with the products you already have, see which products you need according to your skin type, etc.
2.- Buscar Reseñas - 2. Search Reviews:
Esto lo hago mayormente viendo videos de youtube de canales que son de mi confianza, o simplemente leyendo foros y preguntas en Google. Me pasó recientemente que mi novio me trajo un producto de Skin Care de EEUU y yo a duras penas conseguí un video en youtube de una reseña y MÁS NADA. En ese punto coloqué en el buscador de twitter el nombre de la compañía y pude leer otras cositas, más adelante les hablaré sobre ese producto que casi nadie conoce y del cual no existen muchas reseñas hahahaha 🙈. Volviendo al tema, mi canal favorito para ver reseñas de productos en youtube se llama "Skin Care By Haram" se los recomiendo muchísimo porque su opinión es súper apegada a la realidad (sin importar qué) y además me ayudó a crear consciencia sobre la industria del maquillaje y la contaminación masiva.
I do this mostly by watching youtube videos from channels I trust, or just reading forums and google questions. It happened to me recently that my boyfriend brought me a Skin Care product from the US and I barely got a youtube video of a review and NOTHING ELSE. At that point I put in the twitter search engine the name of the company and I was able to read other tidbits, later I will tell you about that product that almost no one knows about and of which there are not many reviews hahahaha 🙈. Back to the topic, my favorite channel to watch product reviews on youtube is called "Skin Care By Haram" I highly recommend it because their opinion is super close to reality (no matter what) and it also helped me to raise awareness about the makeup industry and massive contamination.
3.- Preguntar directamente a los vendedores/consumidores - 3.- Ask vendors/consumers directly:
Si voy a una tienda y una persona me atiende, directamente le pregunto las cosas que para mi son más importantes, por ejemplo, si hay un testeo dermatológico u oftalmológico en la creación de los productos. También antes de comprar suelo preguntarle a personas cercanas que sé que han utilizado la marca para saber su experiencia y poder aprender de los errores ajenos.
If I go to a store and a person attends me, I ask him directly the things that are most important to me, for example, if there is a dermatological or ophthalmological test in the creation of the products. Also, before buying, I usually ask people I know who have used the brand to know their experience and learn from other people's mistakes.
4.- Leer la lista de ingredientes - 4. Read the list of ingredients
Un producto puede decir lo que sea en su parte frontal pero tenemos el deber de investigar sus ingredientes para saber realmente qué nos estamos poniendo sobre nuestra piel. Al chequear la lista de ingredientes lo más importante es supervisar que estos sean coherentes con nuestro tipo de piel, si contiene fragancias, componentes tóxicos, y algún otro ingrediente que desconozcamos su origen o funcionalidad.
A product can say whatever it says on the front but we have a duty to investigate its ingredients to really know what we are putting on our skin. When checking the list of ingredients, the most important thing is to check that they are consistent with our skin type, whether they contain fragrances, toxic components, and any other ingredients that we do not know their origin or functionality.
Estas son algunos de los pasos que aplico en mi proceso de adquirir un nuevo producto de Skin Care o de maquillaje. Mi recomendación es no comprar algo hasta sentirnos seguros de que será un beneficio para nosotros y no una pérdida. Como dije más arriba, los que tenemos la responsabilidad sobre nuestra piel somos nosotros mismos y a veces puede salirnos caro las compras impulsivas. Algo que me faltó decir es que tenemos que tener cuidado de no estar comprando productos réplica, y eso requiere mucha atención e investigación para no caer en la trampa 😥
These are some of the steps I apply in my process of acquiring a new Skin Care or makeup product. My recommendation is not to buy something until we feel confident that it will be a benefit to us and not a loss. As I said above, we are the ones who are responsible for our skin and sometimes impulse purchases can cost us dearly. Something I missed to say is that we have to be careful not to be buying replica products, and that requires a lot of attention and research so we don't fall into the trap 😥.
