Leisure Urbex. The Elms, Chester

in Urban Exploration3 years ago

A Chester hotelier lost his entire life savings of more than £100,000 fighting a legal case following an insurance scam.

The two masterminds of the £1 million that brought about the financial ruin of the hotelier were jailed for more than 10 years between them.

Posing as a couple of respectable insurance brokers they tricked more than 100 victims into using their services.

Instead of providing them with “the purchased policies”, they pocketed the premiums for themselves, paying out minor claims and living in hope that a big claim would not arise.

One did, they were caught out.

Considering this place had been empty for over 6 years when I visited, it was in reasonable condition.

Having walked around the place twice before finding a way in and enduring a bit of a climb I was surprised that I wasn’t challenged as it is on one of the busiest routes into the city, fortune favours the brave.
