Years before the latest escapades with those damn french fishermen, post escape from the eu. The Uk was embroiled in a series of "cod wars" with Iceland, spanning 20 years from the 1950's.

It got quite feisty at times with naval vessels from both sides getting involved.

Over what? Captain Bird's Eye and his fish fingers?

This is an Atlantic Cod, quite tasty with a bag of chips, and a splodge of mushy peas, curry sauce optional, but plenty of salt and vinegar. It is too early to feel this hungry, lets move on.

Fleetwood, once a thriving fishing port, was badly affected by said cod wars, an industry lost, jobs lost. boats abandoned.

I took a stroll, one has to visit when the tide is out, even on this trip the ground was vey wet, muddy and slippy.

Sensible shoes are the order of the day.

SPG_9168.jpeg

I got there fairly early as I had a busy day, which was a bit daft really as I had to endure wet feet for the rest of the day, squelching around.

I was also at about this point attacked by the most gorgeous Blue Staffy ever, he virtually licked me to death, what a gorgeous beast. It is a dog I have always wanted, Come February I shall have to buy one, I can't hold out any longer.

I shall call him Percy.

Some of the old wooden boats have not faired as well as their steel sisters; just ribcages pushing up from the mud.

There used to be many boats abandoned here, now, just a handful remain, sitting rotting for the last 50 years. They may still be here for the next 50 years.

An interesting fact about Fleetwood: This is where they manufacture those tincture lozenges
"Fisherman's Friend"

Now come on be honest, who doesn't love sucking a "Fisherman's Friend"?

Bye.

thanks @joanstewart and you keep enjoying your "fisherman's friend", reading up on Staffies, they seem to be the friendliest dog ever, but they don't take to other animals, that will be fun in the park, off the lead!!!

Staffies are fine with other dogs, all depends on how they are brought up and introduced. Very active as puppies look out for shoes, expect the odd 'gift' brought in from outdoors, they love to swim if taught young to go through water.

👍 maybe he too will enjoy climbing through windows lol

Oh he sure will, they love company, also single minded and stubborn on occasion, like owner normally 🤣

sounds just like me lol, I have seen some already upwards of £2k. Quite an outlay!!

Always enjoyed the dark brindle with white chest patch, perhaps I am just biased...
