En un reciente post adelanté parte de unas fotos cuyo objeto visual fundamental es mostrar una perspectiva –en escorzo, según lenguaje técnico– de un calle del centro tradicional –casco histórico– de Cumaná (Venezuela); se trata de la calle Sucre, espacio donde está ubicada la Iglesia Santa Inés y la Casa Ramos Sucre, como puntos de referencia centrales.
Quise recoger en estas fotos, desde esa perspectiva, las formas y colores de las ventanas, casi todas de hierro, con molduras, en una visión que se extiende –en difuminado unas veces– de la calle con su atractiva curvatura. Esta calle, aun siendo céntrica y de una importante circulación vehicular, ha ido quedando un poco sola y apartada, a consecuencia de que la vida populosa de la ciudad se ha trasladado a las zonas comerciales más recientes. Su soledad y tranquilidad, con su silencio interrumpido por las campanadas del reloj de la iglesia, es tal vez uno de sus principales atractivos actuales, aparte de su presencia arquitectónica sencilla y entrañable. In a recent post I advanced part of some photos whose fundamental visual object is to show a perspective –in foreshortened, according to technical language– of a street in the traditional center -historic center- of Cumaná (Venezuela); it is Sucre Street, where the Santa Inés Church and the Ramos Sucre House are located, as central points of reference.
I wanted to capture in these photos, from that perspective, the shapes and colors of the windows, almost all of them made of iron, with moldings, in a vision that extends -sometimes blurred- from the street with its attractive curvature. This street, although central and with an important vehicular traffic, has become a little lonely and secluded, as a result of the fact that the populous life of the city has moved to the more recent commercial areas. Its solitude and tranquility, with its silence interrupted by the chimes of the church clock, is perhaps one of its main attractions today, apart from its simple and endearing architectural presence. This will be a first installment that I will return to later.
