The very last bottle of a legendary beer

I found this very old bottle of a legendary beer inside an abandoned brewery. The ruin was hitten by wind and weather since nearly 25years, but the bottle seems like okay. It's a very rare piece of history because the Meisterbräu Brewery was founded in 1816 by the Rauchfuß family in East Germany, and relocated to the Saale River in the mid-1880s.

Until 1990, Halle Bier was brewed here under a changing name as part of the communist socialist VEB (peoples owned factory) beverage combine. After the takeover by the capitalistic EKU Kulmbach from western Germany after the wall came down, beer was bottled until 1993.

Than te story was over. Until 1996, they still brewed the well-known Meisterbräu beer in Kulmbach in the western part of Germany, then the company was shut down. Meisterbräu was regarded in East Germany as a noble brand with full taste, a bottle of beer cost only 60 pfennigs. Nowadays this would mean a half a liter is only 3 cents...

Interesting! Such legendary brewery shut down? I think they ran out of resources. I'm loving these stories you're telling.
