A search through the junkyard

A sunny day and a weekend trip to the junkyard on a quest for old automotive parts. I'm not sure if these are a good fit for the Urban Exploration Community, but here you go @slobberchops! I'll never be an urban explorer extraordinaire like you but I love seeing the photos while I sit here is my comfy chair!

My daughter and her husband recently drove 250 miles to purchase an old 1974 Dodge Sportsman Brougham (360) coach camper, and after more than a few roadside repairs they finally got it back to town, where it quit once more and they ended up having it towed the last few miles to get it home.

They are in the process of lovingly restoring it, but because you can't readily purchase all the necessary replacement parts at the local auto supply store it has required trips to the local scrap yards to find the needed parts. I love the photo opportunities that a visit to the junk yard provides.

My daughter was on assignment to take a few photos for me while they were crawling around scavenging through the weeds. I've done some editing, but it was fun to see what she found and what she thought I would be interested in having photos of.

Wow, Cool. I hope the quest was successful? Found what you were searching for?😁

He did find one of the things on his list!

Wow, That is surprising. What could that be? What did he find?

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Ha! I didn't ask. He said that because the engine in the camper was a common one, parts are easy to find and it's an easy motor to work on.

Alright, Alright, I get it.😁

I use to love rummaging around junk yards. Could spend hours there.

That must be a guy thing. I'm always watching for creepy crawlies.

I am just curious. How often do you find usable things in junkyards?

Car junkyards, you ask the junkyard owner what you are looking for and he would point you where to look. But that was years ago. You would always find what you were looking for.

How are you dear friend @melinda010100 good afternoon
It is amazing what can be found in the junk yards. I appreciate that you let us know these findings
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid afternoon

They certainly hold a lot of surprising stuff!

I didn't understand correctly ... did you find a car and a motorcycle in the woods?

No, it is a place where they put old junk cars and my kids were there looking for parts for the old camper they are restoring. These are photos of some of the weird and interesting things that are in the junkyard..

No, è un posto dove hanno messo vecchie macchine spazzatura e i miei figli erano lì a cercare parti per il vecchio camper che stanno restaurando. Queste sono foto di alcune delle cose strane e interessanti che si trovano nello sfasciacarrozze..

thanks for the clarification

Cool, it's a good idea to go check your junkyard once in a while. You never know what useful things you find there and if nothing else taking a picture or two is a lot of fun!

Hive Power Up Month - Feedback from Day 20

It doesn't sound like a very good buy. I hope they didn't have to pay a lot upfront for the camper.

It's a project. Restoring old vehicles is a hobby for them and they will spend huge amounts of time getting the camper looking grand and knowing them, they will then sell it. My daughter is working on the interior and her husband does all the mechanics. They just put in a new refrigerator and hot water heater. They have all new custom cushions for the beds. It's a fun project for them!

Right. I understand now. The fun is in creating something new from old. It's immensely satisfying upon completion. 😊
