I’m Niiva, I’m very excited because now I am going to introduce to you my hometown, especially, it’s my grandparent’s house where I was born and grown up. Because it is a rural area, there are many gardens, in the garden there are many kinds of fruit trees and vegetables, most of the gardens are spacious. Let's discover together with me!
My grandfather is a person who loves to take care of bonsai, so in his yard there are many kinds of apricot flowers that he took care of since childhood, he pruned and compressed it since childhood, so when it matures, it from many beautiful and unique shapes. On each Lunar New Year occasion, apricot flowers bloom all over the yard creating an extremely eye-catching scene.
Next to the grandmother's house there is a large garden, where corn plants are grown because at this time is the right time to plant and harvest corn of the people here. The corn plants here start to produce small fruits, about half a month from now the corn will be harvested. There are some corn plants that have been harvested, it's quite large, you can see the picture below ^^
Associated with the image of the countryside, it is certainly impossible not to know about rice. It is the main food crop of Vietnam in general and Asia in particular. Perhaps rice was formed a long time ago, and it still exists now and certainly in the future. Now people here have just started planting, the rice is still small.
In front of my grandmother's house there is also a garden, it is very large. Because my grandmother loves to eat vegetables and fruits, she grows a lot of vegetables in this garden. Because the fruits are carefully cared for by my grandmother, they are very clean and hygienic. My grandmother has 9 children, including 3 boys and 6 girls, my mother is the 6th among siblings. Therefore, my grandmother often grows a lot to share vegetables with her children. There are many vegetables grown here such as winter melon, sponge gourd, papaya, eggplant, etc.
Winter melon and sponge gourd are two types that are grown on trellises, before planting them, my grandfather made a bamboo trellis so they can grow on it.
The papaya tree has a lot of fruit, my mother often comes here to pick it to cook soup with pork, it's extremely delicious. Unripe papaya is often cooked by my grandmother in soup and salad. When ripe papaya is also very delicious, its taste is extremely sweet, I often use papaya and fresh milk to make smoothies, enjoying this dish this summer is extremely wonderful.
Are you a big fan of BBQ? I love eating BBQ with my extended family. In the party, there are many dishes, especially the main dish is grilled meat. Besides, the indispensable side dishes are vegetables, in particular, eggplant and okra are vegetables that are often grilled and served with meat. So, when we hold parties, we don't spend money to buy vegetables, instead, we will pick them in the garden.
Normally, in a tray of Vietnamese rice, soup is indispensable. Today I will introduce to you a few vegetables that Vietnamese people often cook such as katuk, sweet potato bud, malabar spinach, water spinach, etc. These vegetables are very popular in Vietnam, they are often fried, boiled, and used to make soup.
In addition to vegetables, the garden also grows some fruits such as lemons, grapefruits, bananas, and jackfruit. In this hot summer, I often go to the garden to pick lemons and make lemonade to drink. When the fruit is ripe, the fragrance spreads throughout my grandmother's garden, especially the jackfruit. I really like to eat jackfruit, so every time the jackfruit is ripe, she calls me to her house to get it. Especially, I like to eat young jackfruit with shrimp salt, it's very delicious.
