Odd place Pontifract. I have distant relatives there. The violence I can well believe. I walked into a pub with my girlfriend of the time who was Japanese. Some bloke who was half cut and about 6ft2 started yelling abuse at her and threw a punch at me. My gf who is about 5ft2 and less than 40 kilos grabs that arm and uses his momentum to flip him over her head and lay him out on the floor. The people at the bar gave her a round of applause as it was extremely impressive.
You don't mess around with Japanese women. They all get taught Judo from a tender age at school and it becomes an elective after age 11. She is a 3rd dan black belt.
Hehe... great story. I didnt socialise with the locals while there, so cant tell you anything about them.
