Coats of arms on the facades of buildings is one of my favorite topics. The blazons have been preserved in many old palaces and mansions in St. Petersburg. Often you can see double-headed eagles - this is a coat of arms of the Russian Empire and griffins, heraldic animals of the ruling royal house of the Romanovs. The coat of arms of the USSR was dismantled on some buildings, but preserved on others.

The emblem of the USSR now seems to be part of history, the same as the symbols of the imperial house. It looks organically on the facade of this building with high arched windows, although it was added a hundred years after its construction.

Loving Russian architecture, I first visited USSR 1n 1972, on a school trip, have been fascinated ever since and have been back several times. This is cool

This is amazing. I am sure these trips left a strong impression.

Nice! These old buildings always give me the urge to climb and walk on those rooftops 🤷‍♂

Thanks! I also like to climb and walk on rooftops :)
