This church currently sits in front of a retirement home and long term care center in Stoney Creek Ont. Built in 1964, the church was used by several congregations and had several names through the decades (Anglican Church of Our Saviour and Skyway Chapel).
It has now been left abandoned for about 4 months and is the first step in the development plans for the property. Soon the retirement home and long term care facility will also be abandoned. Then it will all be demolished and replaced with a new retirement home and several apartment buildings.
Knowing these plans, I have been watching and waiting to explore the whole property and when I saw the power was cut to the church. I knew I had to explore it, just incase I cant in the future.
The interior was way smaller than I would have expected! It was literally one large room, an entry way and a small downstairs hall with washrooms.
Despite being small, it made for some beautiful shots and I am very glad to have been able to shoot it. Hopefully the rest of the property will be very interesting as well!
