This abandoned complex sitting on a 98 acre piece of land on the outskirts of Bowmanville Ontario, has a history dating back to 1927. When the property was developed to become the Bowmanville Boys Training School. The school implemented non-institutional modes of education to reform delinquent boys by providing them with a mental, moral, physical and vocational education and training.
14 years later the government of Canada forced the school out and converted the grounds for use as a prisoner of war camp. In 1941 it became operational a internment camp for officers and ranking officials of the German Armed Forces. Captured by the Allied Forces.
After the war it was converted back into a boarding school, which ran until 1979. Then as various academic uses until 2008 (school for overseas Malaysian students, St. Stephen's Catholic Secondary School and finally a private Islamic university).
It has sat abandoned since 2008.

Interesting history attached to the old building. Still looks in good condition on the outside, inside like most other run down derelict places where humans roam.
