For more than 100 years, the Hamilton Asylum for the insane operated on the Hamilton Escarpment. The asylum was demolished in the 1980s but this section of the building was left standing for an unknown reason. It has been sitting behind another abandoned building from the Asylum known as Century Manor (I am currently working on a mini documentary on it), for nearly 40 years.
A company has purchased the land and will be developing a long term care residence, but they have not made any detailed plans as of yet. Leaving the future of this building or any of the remaining buildings of the Asylum in a state of limbo.
