If you are one of my 3 followers you probably saw the picture I was working on below. It has a long convoluted explanation that makes me chuckle to think about, the unfortunate thing is to induce a chuckle in someone else takes work lol
At this point not much is “designed” I just have some concepts. This is all for fun for me so I enjoy creating a story in my mind as I draw so not exactly like having a script :)
The monkey and the pilot are trying to rescue someone and the 2 figures you see in background leaping are going to be “Trolls” which conceptually I wanted them sort of scrap metals imbued with some form of energy. I was going for a pg-13 type feel and want to be able to destroy a lot of em without painting the walls with blood...and there is a play on the concept of trolls not really being alive as individuals, but that’s a whole rabbit hole of troll philosophy we don’t have to go down yet.
I didn’t know what they were going to look like so figured I would try to design one before drawing it leaping, kinda hard to draw something leaping when you don’t even know what that something looks like....duh right?
The first heads crack me up...a camcorder head and a dumber alien head came first! Then got to something I liked at bottom.
Then as I’m sketching I sorta hear people yelling “Trolls” <—-no I don’t hear them like a crazy person hears them, I’m fully aware it’s make believe people screaming in my head, which makes it fine.
So I listened to the screams and added a font just cause, and it looked like it would frame image well.
When I put a real font in and liked it and wanted to try and induce some energy into it because it looked too clean and didn’t match as well as I thought it could, so scuffed it up some.
Wasn’t sure I was going to color it but was like...well what color would it be.(I left previous sentence in because it’s such bad narration i love it) First thought was green but that didn’t fit the “metal” idea so went rusty orangish. I went to color eyes and decided oh it should be green cause it’s troll energy. Then after decided to add some of it in body area to tie it together.
That’s how you end up with one of the most energy sucking and destructive forces known.....TROLLS!....and now they are in space.
These are awesome, I especially love the panel with the monkey :D
