Did you get the 1lb ones? I think that the 2lb ones would be to much, you could probably get both 1lb for wrists and 2lb for ankles. Good for long walks as well.

Yes, I didn't want too much burden. Just a bit more weight but not too much.

They are nice but forgive my ignorance, what is their function?

It's to add some weights to the wrist to train myself moving with more weights.
