I often pass by this market, and I’ve been there many times before since it’s located right inside the cultural and creative park. Whenever I visit the park, I’ll naturally walk through it. It’s a regular weekend market, but the vendors change from time to time. The organizers have their own selection process, focusing mainly on creative and original works. That’s why every visit feels a bit different — there’s always the chance of running into something unexpected, like unique handmade crafts or exotic Middle Eastern food. I’ve noticed that many markets include food stalls to spice things up, and it’s hard to resist grabbing a snack once the smell hits you.
A friend of mine has a birthday coming up. She has a quirky personality and loves unusual things. Lately, she’s really into Gothic style — her outfits are always layered with different textures of black, creating this cold, mysterious vibe. Wearing black in summer must be hot, but she doesn’t seem to care. Anyway, my friends and I want to find her a special gift, so lately, whenever I visit the market, I pay extra attention, hoping to discover something she might like.
I remember one time at this market, there was a vendor dressed in full Gothic style, with tattoos all over her arms. Her look really stood out to me. We chatted for a bit, and she told me she combines her job with her passion — she makes and sells handmade Gothic accessories like chokers, necklaces, and rings. Thinking back, her creations would’ve been perfect as a gift for my friend. But I didn’t expect to see her again, and indeed, she wasn’t there this time. I guess vendors like her just show up when they feel like it — one of those “right time, right place” encounters.
Still, I walked around and asked some of the current vendors if anyone regularly sells Gothic-style items. Some gave me suggestions on where else I might look. One of them even offered me a sample of her quiche. I’ve always liked savory food, and her quiche was delicious — the crust was crisp and flaky, and the filling, made of cheese, vegetables, and ham, was rich but not greasy. It was a pleasant little surprise, though I didn’t manage to find the gift I wanted. I guess picking the right present is never easy.
