The curry dishes I posted earlier remind me of some fun food conversations and experiences in the past. When I worked in Brussels, I used to have picnic lunches with one Indian and other coworkers in a lovely park. It's close to our office in Ixelles, and it's one of my favourite spots in town to unwind.
Now, I would like to introduce this petite hidden gem to you. The park is called Tenbosch, as you can see from the wooden benches in my photos here. It literally means "in the woods", which is such an apt name. It is a tranquil oasis in the midst of the urban hustle and bustle.
Used to be private property, this landscaped park was purchased by the local government and converted into a public park. It is home to a large number of rare plants that are unique in Belgium. It serves as a sanctuary not only for city dwellers but also for local birds.
During the warmer months (not so many unfortunately) such as in August when I took these photos, you can relax in its green space, which is filled with trees, plants, and flowers. Aside from taking a walk, having a picnic, or reading a book, you can also play on its basketball or tennis court, or on the pétanque field that is ubiquitous in this part of Europe.
前几天的尼泊尔菜让我想起一些来自南亚的前同事，在一起工作之余总会聊到吃到南亚美食。以前在布鲁塞尔工作的时候，常常和几个同事在公司附近一起吃午饭，包括在一块小园林里野餐。其中有位印度大姐，印象中，只有我俩是在吃午“饭”，而其他西方同事大都在啃叶子。同为身处欧洲的亚洲吃货，这处小绿地见证了我们的惺惺相惜和革命友谊:D。
布鲁塞尔有很多绿地，这个隐秘低调的小园林是我最喜欢的之一，现在就来介绍给大家。从这些照片中的木头长椅上可以看到公园的名字Tenbosch，字面意思就是“在林子里”，是不是很贴切? 大片的花草树木让这里成为喧嚣城市中一处宁静的小绿洲。
这个景观公园曾经是私人财产，后来被当地政府买下并改造成公共园林。里面种有大量比利时特有的植物，不仅给鸟类提供了栖息地，也给我们人类提供了休息放松的好场所。
天气不冷的时候可惜幸福总是短暂的 ，比如我拍下这些照片的美好八月里，可以来这满目绿色的空间里大口吸氧、闲坐发呆、散散步、野野餐、看看书...... 也可以来这里打打篮球、打打网球，或者玩玩pétanque球。这种法式滚球是种在沙地上抛滚的金属球类运动，规则类似冰壶比赛，在法国和比利时的公园里随处可见，很受退休老人喜爱。
