公园的湖水中央，有几只黑天鹅。
它们的羽毛是沉郁的黑，沾了水后更显浓重，只有翅膀边缘偶尔露出几根浅灰的羽丝。红色的喙带着天然的弯钩，尖端常沾着细碎的水草。
黑天鹅不常活动，多数时候浮在水面，颈部自然弯曲，形成一道柔和的弧线。有时会将头探入水中，尾部顺势翘起，露出蓬松的黑色尾羽，像一小簇水草立在水面。
岸边有人靠近时，它们会保持着不远不近的距离，用蹼足轻轻划水，带动身体缓缓移动，水面便漾开一圈圈细密的波纹。若有人投放食物，它们会侧过身，用喙在水里一点一点啄取，动作轻缓，不会激起大的水花。
湖面上的水生植物旁，常能看到它们的身影。有时单独一只，有时两三只挨在一起，安静地漂浮着，与周围的水、草一起构成美丽的景致。
