田边的路不好走，一脚下去能沾些湿泥。水稻长得正旺，齐腰深的秆子挨挨挤挤，叶尖上挑着亮闪闪的光，是没干的露水。风过时，稻浪一层叠一层地涌，带着股青生生的气。
田埂拐个弯，就见着那条河了。水不深，清凌凌的，能瞅见底下圆溜溜的石子。岸边歪歪扭扭泊着只小船，旧的颜色发深，船桨扔在一旁，桨叶上还挂着水珠。绳子一头拴在石墩子上，另一头松松挽着，船身跟着水晃，吱呀响。
水里热闹，一群小鱼聚在有草的地方，灰扑扑的，偶尔有银亮的窜出来，搅得水面起了细波纹。有人用竹篮在浅处捞，篮沿刚碰到水，鱼就散了，等会儿又慢慢凑回来，傻乎乎的。
日头爬到头顶时，稻叶蔫了些，河面上腾起薄薄的热气。小船还在晃，鱼群也没走，风里混着稻子和水的味儿，让人不想动。就想坐在田埂上，看船，看鱼，看稻子慢慢晃到日头西斜。
