Horrible bosses I've experienced: A story of my cousin sis

in Speak Peace ā€¢ 2 years ago (edited)

Holla guys šŸ˜‚, how una day? Greetings from Surulere Lagos and yay, it's another weekly prompt. Another excuse to fully express ourselves and share our thoughts on one pinching side of the "shoe".

My open opinion

The commotion that tipped off on the microblog (twitter), have lots of people especially Nigerian call out that bossy boss who was ruthless to his staff must have been so severe and only God knows how long that worker must have put up with the boss hoping for positive change in character someday.

Sincerely, kudos to everyone that reacted to the video which had eventually brought the wickedness of man to the public eye. Mehn!! If people do less trolling and more helping on the socials, it would do the world a very good deal.

First of all, I'm really grateful for the vast online financial opportunities during the pandemic outbreak. Although Covid-19 was very harsh at some point on some businesses and generally to the world's economy but we can't deny the fact that many people were actually pushed out of their comfort zones and a whole lot more of the general populace began to accept the visible potentials of the online space.

My experience with a mean boss

A bad experience is a bad experience whether it was physical violence or emotional torture or mental trauma, as long as that inhumane act all happened without the victim's permission. If the after effects were damaging to the affected/victim and the public condemns it, then it's legit bad experience.

Although I wasn't the direct victim but that woman my cousin worked for, her judgement is in heaven.

Some time ago, when my cousin was out of school, she was like, "lemme go and find something to keep me busy (skills). So yeah, she sourced not for too long then found a make up center.

My cuzzy was already very familiar with the dos and don'ts of a sleek makeover so instead of learning, she just worked for the money at her boss's showplace.

So luckily, she(my cuz) was allowed to begin as a learner-cum-worker at her new found workplace. Then 3 months later, the so-called madam began her wahala. She insults, nags and spats angrily at every slight issue.

Even the ones that don't deserve her usual serving of sarcastic nagging, she took every opportunity to throw up a tantrum. It was emotionally draining.

She was smart so said my cuzzy because she (the madam) never made herself flare up when ever there were customers in the shop.

My cousin's next line of action

What my cuzzy did was to respectfully round up the last straw she could take and tendered her resignation letter very early before her boss could arrive on that faithful day, then blocked her from receiving any further calls from her place of work. Or would I say, "ex place of work".

Although she still has a few contacts she gained there, some from her coworkers while some were customers who even contracted her on some days. We thank God Almighty for better workplaces now šŸ™

My advice

Keep your wits at alert everytime especially in a new work environment. Look out for red flags too whenever you can because sometimes, most bosses don't show it. Be free with worth coworkers especially the old ones there; they always know what's up.
And when it becomes toxic and violent there, please as soon as possible, LEAVE THAT PLACE.

Ps; Apologies for not entertaining y'all with a pic or two. Doing that is currently giving me big time heck šŸ™

Your cousin's experience was awful. It is true that horrible bosses project the images of saints infront of their customers.
