It’s a Community CDS today and we are to visit a Chief in the town of Ngor-Okpala, Imo state Nigeria.

The road to the axis wasn’t good, I’m not sure but I think the east has the worst roads. Getting to the Chief’s palace, it was a different vibe. We were welcome by a rare bred of an ornamental palm tree, which is so so beautiful. The compound was big with giants buildings and good structures we almost didn’t believe we’re still in Imo state. The palace of the Chief is really beautiful, it’s actually a site to behold.

We were led by a young guy into the “Obi” meaning Conference room which is equally large and beautiful. We were to learn that the Obi has been built for 28 years ago. Obviously there would have been some renovations done because it speaks excellence. We later learnt as well that our host is into foreign building materials.

After the introduction from our host and we the guest, we learnt that the meaning of Okenze is called OTUN in Yoruba which means the right hand of the King and since he is the Okenze of Ngor-Okpala which has many kings based on axis, it means he is the right hand of all of the Kings. We also learnt about some ancestral stories and taboos of the land.

We were later served Jollof rice and Chicken with different drinks. We took pictures and we left the palace for our various accommodations.
