I want to start by saying a big 'thank you' to all the participants in this week's contest(s). There were many great entries that I loved. I was supposed to spend most of today commenting on the posts I have read but I don't know, my energy and focus level has been down the toilet, so bear with me.
It is always great to hear people's personal stories and answers to some deep questions and I appreciate everyone who takes their time to share real (not fabricated stories) of their lives and experiences. It makes grading and curating a lot of fun.
To the question: what does happiness mean to me? Well, happiness is a lot of things. I do not have a textbook definition of happiness. To me, happiness can be a place, a state of mind, a journey, a person… So today, I will like to talk about my favourite person, her.
I started dating this awesome woman about two years ago (next anniversary in 4 months) and my life has transformed completely. She came into my life when I had given up on love and she brought something special--her love, verve, charm and passion.
Aside from being the love of my life, she is a great partner who supports me almost unconditionally. I don't even give her as much credit as she deserves as she has saved me from a lot of shitty situations I have gotten myself into over the past two years.
My best times are with her. She comforts (and enrages) me with her presence. With her, I feel at peace. All my fears and worries seem insignificant when she is around me and together I don't believe there is anything impossible. This is the confidence I have in our relationship.
She is fun and playful. Her energy matches that of my inner child. We can banter all day and never get tired. It is just one of those little silly things that make us happy.
I hope I make her as happy as she makes me feel; I hope I can afford the warmth and safety she gives me; I hope this feeling of completeness and happiness lasts forever. Because…
