Over the weekend, I was in two South-South States. Even inside a Zenith bank, the people were shouting ObiDient.
I think Peter Obi is supposed to win this election if the election is not compromised. Except in far North where illiteracy runs rife, nobody is presently talking about Atiku or Tinubu.
Peter Obi is expected to clear all South-South, South-East, divide South-West and North Central and go on to win the election as the next president of Nigeria.
But he must have to understand the politics of INEC. INEC is not truly independent. The electoral body is compromised, politically assailed, desecrated and partial.
More than anything, Peter Obi and his party needs key players in INEC on their side, not to help them steal votes, but to ensure that votes are not manufactured or diverted to PDP and APC.
The guys in INEC are as corrupt as anything. You cannot count on the integrity of the BVAS machines. The machines can be manipulated.
So as part of Obi's engagements for the election, he must acquire for himself "eyes" and insiders in INEC. Waiting to monitor the process at the polling units alone is to wait to be raped before looking for justice.
In Nigeria, as at today, there's no justice for anyone whose mandate is stolen at the presidential level.
Once a president is returned elected by INEC, we don't have the electoral jurisprudence and judicial nerves to give judgment against a sitting president.
APC is only banking on vote-buying and the illiterate northern populace. They have nothing else behind them. As for Atiku, he is just gallivanting. We know that he's banking on the president to do something for him.
If Obi does not sort out INEC and buy over certain key players, the election day will be like real African Magic to him because votes that will be credited to him will be a far cry from the strength of his support base.
He should go and study what PDP in Rivers State did to Sergeant Awuse. They made sure that huge chunk of votes from his Emuoha people go to Peter Odili. They disgraced him in his village.
This same thing was done to Great Ovedje Ogboru when he contested against Ibori.
When the incumbent in Nigeria want to embarrass a strong opposition, they make sure the ridicule starts from his own stronghold.
My only fear for Peter Obi is not that he won't get the majority votes. INEC is where the issue is. INEC has no integrity. INEC is funded by the federal government; hence, they are accountable to the government.
If INEC were to be funded by the political parties or the Nigerian public, their independence would have been absolute.
I have said this and will keep saying it, the only thing stopping Peter Obi from winning this coming election is INEC because that man has already won the hearts of many even in the North.
In this forthcoming election we should do our part and hope for the Best 🙏
As it is, we should be able to say that Peter Obi has no work to do for the entire south anymore. This is the time the south needs to be wise and unite as one for a common goal.
His work should move to the north. He needs at least 25% of the north. I can already see that his supporters are multiplying exponentially. Now is the time his running mate gets to do the underground work.
