Howdy Open mic family.
Well here we are at week 51....next week marks our 1 year anniversary of Hive open mic and I'm excited to see what the theme will be for that.
Its been a wild ride of a year with many hundreds of great songs played and many wonderful artist's uniting to share their talents here.
Im thankful and proud of @cabelindsay for giving us this event to look forward to each week and @mipiano for helping with the curation and providing feedback.
I'm also thankful to all the amazing artist's who come together and unite to make every week special.
Speaking of Unity that is out theme this week.Nothing makes me think of Unity more than Bob Marley's songs.I don't know to many of them and I have only ever tried playing a few but for this Unity week I wanted to take a shot at Small Axe...
"Small Axe"
Bob Marley
Why boasteth thyself
Oh, heathen men
Playing smart
And not being clever?
I said, you're working iniquity
To achieve vanity
But the goodness of Jah, Jah
I-dureth for-I-ver
So if you are the big tree
We are the small axe
Chopping to cut you down (well sharp)
To cut you down
These are the words
Of my master
No weak heart
Shall prosper
And whosoever diggeth a pit
Shall fall in it, fall in it
And whosoever diggeth a pit
Shall bury in it (... bury in it)
If you are the big tree, let me tell you that
We are the small axe,
Chopping to cut you down (well sharp)
To cut you down
To cut you down
To cut you down
These are the words
Of my master, tellin' me that
No weak heart
Shall prosper
And whosoever diggeth a pit
Shall fall in it, uh, bury in it
And whosoever diggeth a pit
Shall bury in it, uh (... bury in it)
If you are the big, big tree
We are the small axe
Chopping to cut you down (well sharp)
To cut you down
If you are the big, big tree, let me tell you that
We are the small axe
Chopping to cut you down (well sharp)
To cut you down
To cut you down
To cut you down
Your style and voice brought to Bob Marley's song 👌
It is a good feeling that we have the freedom to sing or play in our own style and stay at the same time in unity with the original!
Congratulations :)
P.S. and congratulations for being again the first one with publishing in the new week's topic 👏👏
Bob Marley fan here. Cool of you to give it a whirl. Digging the familiar chorus lines through your style and tone. I used to play "Redemption Song," and it's a lot of fun.
