Hello, friends of Hive Open Mic! It's a pleasure to be with you after a week's absence due to a sore throat. Although I'm still quite hoarse, I decided to try singing this song and not miss out on participating, so I apologize in advance for the poor condition of my voice.
The theme of this edition is “I Will Return,” an expression that is more than a wish; it is a promise we make to someone we care about and sometimes to ourselves. When we like something or someone and feel comfortable and happy around that situation or person, we always want to return to that place, as we feel it is like home, something familiar and comforting. In another sense, it can also apply to a situation that did not turn out as we expected and perhaps, we see it as a failure, but we tell ourselves that we will try again, which speaks to our sense of resilience, of never giving up in life.
Today I want to present a cover of the song E Ritorno da Te (I'll Come Back to You), performed by Italian singer Laura Pausini, from her album Lo Mejor de Laura Pausini, released in 2001. This song tells the story of someone who decides to return to a relationship, although not exactly on the best of terms, as she says she’s doing so because she has no other choice, because there is practically a dependency beyond her willpower and she needs to know if the other person is willing to restart the path they had both established, which indicates that trust may have been lost. ¡Hola, amigos de Hive Open Mic! Un placer estar con ustedes después de una semana de ausencia debido a un malestar de garganta. Aunque continúo bastante ronca decidí intentar cantar esta canción y no dejar de participar, así que de antemano disculpen las condiciones de mi voz que no son muy favorables.
La temática de esta edición es “Regresaré”, una expresión que más que un deseo es una promesa que le hacemos a alguien que nos importa y en ocasiones a nosotros mismos. Cuando algo o alguien nos agrada y nos sentimos cómodos y felices alrededor de esa situación o persona, siempre queremos regresar a ese lugar, ya que lo sentimos como un hogar, como algo familiar y reconfortante. En otro matiz también puede aplicar a una situación que no salió como lo esperábamos y quizás lo vemos como un fracaso, pero nos decimos a nosotros mismos que lo volveremos a intentar, lo cual habla de nuestro sentido de resiliencia, de nunca darnos por vencidos en la vida.
Hoy quiero presentarles un cover de la canción E Ritorno da Te (Volveré Junto a Ti), interpretada por el cantante italiana Laura Pausini, perteneciente a su álbum Lo Mejor de Laura Pausini, lanzado en el año 2001. Esta canción nos habla de alguien que decide regresar a una relación aunque no precisamente en los mejores términos, ya que dice que lo hace porque no tiene otra elección, porque prácticamente hay una dependencia más allá de la fuerza de voluntad y necesita saber si la otra persona está dispuesta a reiniciar el camino que ambos habían establecido, lo que nos indica que posiblemente se haya perdido un poco la confianza.
