Esta semana la temática es "Salmos" y de ese libro de la Biblia donde encontramos cánticos y oraciones de alabanza, adoración, contrición y gratitud, hace cuarenta años tomé uno de sus salmos y compuse una música para cantarlo.
Es interesante saber que, al contrario de lo que muchas veces se piensa, no todos los Salmos fueron escritos por el Rey David. Por el contrario, fueron escritos por diversos autores. Sabemos por los títulos que el Rey. David escribió alrededor de 73 de ellos. El sacerdote Asaf, designado para dirigir las alabanzas, escribió 12. También fueron 12 los salmos escritos por los hijos de Coré, levitas que fueron porteros primero del tabernáculo y posteriormente del templo y al Rey Salomón se le atribuyen 2 aunque no hay total certeza al respecto.
Los Salmos son de gran ayuda en los momentos de oración, y, de hecho, la Liturgia de las Horas, de la iglesia católica marca distintos momentos del día con los salmos como oración.
Hay Salmos que se han popularizado mucho en el pueblo cristiano, tales como el Salmo 91, con el que se acostumbra orar para pedir protección ("El que habita al abrigo del Altísimo morará bajo la sombra del Omnipotente") , el Salmo 23 ("El Señor es mi Pastor, nada me faltará":y que es leído a las personas agonìzantes por el consuelo que
representa para ellas escuchar "aúnque ande en valle sombra de muerte no tendré mal alguno porque Tú estarás conmigo"
Hace alrededor de 40 años compuse música para la letra del salmo 139 que tomé de la versión de la Biblia de Casiodoro de Reina y Cipriano de Valera, conocida como "la Reina - Valera" de 1960 - traté de modificarla lo menos posible, manteniendo el sentido de la misma en un 100 %
El Salmo que musicalicé en esa ocasión fue el Salmo 139, un canto que subraya el conocimiento profundo que tiene Dios de cada uno de nosotros - conociéndonos mejor que nosotros mismos - , que le hace saber qé vamos a decir antes que abramos la boca y qué vamos a pensar antes que la idea resuene en nuestro interior.
Espero que les agrade la melodía, mi interoretación, pero lo que más espero y deseo es que el Espíritu Santo permita que al escuchar este Salmo , sus palabras sean semillas que, sembradas en nuestros corazones, den fruto para la vida eterna.

About 40 years ago I composed music for the lyrics of Psalm 139, which I took from the Casiodoro de Reina and Cipriano de Valera Bible version, known as the "Reina-Valera" of 1960 - I tried to modify it as little as possible, maintaining its meaning 100%.
The Psalm I set to music on that occasion was Psalm 139, a song that underscores God's profound knowledge of each of us—knowing us better than we know ourselves—so that He knows what we will say before we open our mouths and what we will think before the idea even takes root within us.
I hope you enjoy the melody and my interpretation, but what I most hope and desire is that the Holy Spirit will allow the words of this Psalm to be seeds sown in our hearts, bearing fruit for eternal life.
