Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.
Larry begins his look at today in history from England. He finds out that on this day in this day in 2018, Prince Harry married American actress Meghan Markle at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle; unlike any previous British royal wedding, the event combined pomp and circumstance with African American culture, the latter being a celebration of the bride's half heritage.
From England, Larry goes to the world of exploration and explorers. He finds out that on this day in 1845, English explorer John Franklin's ill-fated mission to find the Northwest Passage began with the departure of the Erebus and the Terror from London; both ships subsequently became caught in ice, killing Franklin and his crew.
From the world of exploration and explorers, Larry goes to the Philippines. He finds out that on this day in 1571, Miguel López de Legazpi, a Spanish explorer, founded the city of Manila, Philippines.
From the Philippines, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1925, Malcolm X, an African American leader and significant figure in the Nation of Islam, espoused ideas of race pride and Black nationalism in the early 1960s was born in Omaha, Nebraska, U.S.
From the USA, Larry goes to Cambodia. He finds out that on this day in 1925, Pol Pot was a Khmer political leader who led the Khmer Rouge totalitarian regime in Cambodia from 1975 to 1979, imposing great difficulties on the Cambodian people, was born in Kompong Thom province, Cambodia.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from the Uruguay. He finds out that on this day in 1979, a Uruguayan football (soccer) player who was awarded the Golden Ball as the standout player at the 2010 World Cup, was born in Montevideo, Uruguay
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
