Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for thursday, the 22nd day of February, 2024. Gentlemen, despite losing a nail-biting game against Rennes (3-2), and (Agg 3-5)on average AC Milan secured their place in Friday's Europa League round of 16.
Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.
Larry begins his look at today in history from Scotland. He finds out that on this day in 1997, a team of British scientists led by Ian Wilmut at the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh announced the birth of Dolly the sheep, the first adult mammal clone.
From Scotland, Larry goes to Ukraine. He finds out that on this day in 2014, following intense protests, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was impeached for breaking an association agreement with the European Union. He eventually fled the country and was later charged with embezzlement.
From Ukraine, Larry goes to New Zealand. He finds out that on this day in 2011, Christchurch, New Zealand, and the surrounding area were hit by a large damaging aftershock (magnitude 6.3), after enduring more than five months of tremors.
From New Zealand, Larry goes to Germany. He finds out that on this day in 1942, three members of the White Rose, an anti-Nazi organisation that promoted nonviolent resistance, were beheaded in Munich.
From Germany, Larry goes to the Central African Republic. He finds out that on this day in 1924, Jean-Bédel Bokassa nan African military leader who served as president of the Central African Republic (1966–76) and self-proclaimed emperor of the Central African Empire (1976–79) was born in Bobangui, Moyen-Congo, French Equatorial Africa (now in the Central African Republic).
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Angola. He finds out that on this day in 1934, Jonas Savimbi, an Angolan politician, who lead a long-running guerrilla campaign [UNITA] against Angola's post-independence government, died in near Lucusse, Angola.
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
