Our successful Hive meetup at Aba, Nigeria - the details

in SpendHBDlast month

I am so happy to have hosted the first Hive meetup in 2025. The venue was 208 Azikiwe Rd, Aba which is home to Happy Customer Supermarket. The meetup was full of fun, interactions, exchange of ideas and Hive promotion talk. It took place yesterday (1/4/2025). The SpendHBD initiative has been a big vehicle pushing us to greater heights. Our meetup was successful thanks to this viable project that gave us something to work on. Watch the video below to see some clips from the meetup

Hive Talks, friendships and fun

The meetup which I have been planning and working towards for many weeks now gave us so many sweet memories. There were 3 presenters including luchyl, ijelady and myself. Each speaker presented a topic or two bothering on how members could grow and own their Hive business.

Luchyl spoke about the importance of consistency and why its an invaluable success secret on Hive. Ijelady delivered a presentation on microblogging and why it should be taken serious. i did 3 presentations covering topics such as why everyone should work hard to promote a Hive project like SpendHBD. I also spoke about @hive-echo weekly contests as one way to promote Hive on Web2 and also comment rewarder.

All the Hive talk took a better part of 2 hours. At the end of it all, everyone present either learnt something new to take their Hive business forward or motivation to give Hive their best. I made it known that beyond creating quality content, each person on Hive could bring more value by working on projects that promote Hive adoption. I am really eager to see more positive participation among members in various hive projects especially spendHBD.

Interactive section, Meetup materials and photography

The meetup allowed everyone present to make their voices heard. We discussed challenges to Hive business growth and questions were answered on how Hive tools could be used to create better content, gain more audience and build for longterm. It was a great time for many of the members to see each other in person for the first time too.

In preparation for this meetup, I made sure to brand materials like mugs, exercise books and Tshirt. Branding is important for consistent identification and business promotion. All that attended the meetup got their Tshirts, facecap and a mug.

During and at the end of the meetup, we created lots of content. There were individual and group photographs and videos. It was not just about learning and sharing ideas, time came for soft music too and it was fun. You can see some of our photos and video.

I shared snacks to everyone that attended (Soft drink and biscuit) as light refreshment. The meetup was indeed an awesome moment to build human connections and networking that goes beyond Hive. This is only possible because of Hive and the SpendHBD project.

The impact of Meetups - a call for more

Everyone that attended the meetup never regretted doing so. In fact many called for more meetups like this more often. I already, I have plans to host gatherings like this at least once every month. The priceless moments that meetups give us are just too good to miss. More than 23 users attended this one and created some happy moments only Hive meetups could bring.

Nigeria is home to many Hive users and it would be nice to have small, but regular meetups like this across the many cities and states. The comments in our video of the event is full of users across towns here calling for such meetups.

So I call on everyone to make this a huge movement. Discover Hive users close to you, connect and find others. Once you have a sizeable number, start organizing meetups. I see meetups as a powerful tool for retaining Hive users. It creates a sense of belonging and community which is essential for continuity. And if you are thinking of a special Hive project for everyone, think SpendHBD. There is that need for more local guides to onboard businesses and make them accept HBD for instant cash discounts.

Small budget for a meetup like this

Hosting meetups like this call for proper planning and some money involvement. So as the call for more meetups has gone out, I will like to give us an idea of what it took to get everything set for this particular meetup we just concluded.

I want to say a big thanks to everyone that attended the meetup. All our members from Aba that donated to help with the gift item costs. Your physical presence too made the meetup one that was both lively and memorable. A bigger meetup is being planned soonest.

And to all other friends in other parts of the world, I encourage us to host Hive meetups and share your story. Join the SpendHBD project and let local businesses accept HBD to give out instant discounts to their customers.

Hive needs every new member that will buy Hive to spend HBD. Every new content creator and all business with their customers. Together we can drive mass adoption and take this fast and feeless blockchain to the moon!!!!!
