This year, we had a seated dinner at Bijan Bar & Restaurant on the final day. This post is not only about the delicious food, but also about a project that aims to make HBD part of local community.
A Delicious and Joyful Dinner
The evening started with welcome drinks at the restaurant’s entrance tables — a refreshing watermelon-flavored one, perfect for the hot-humid Kuala Lumpur weather. I joined the Malaysian users who had been supporting the Fest.
After finishing our drinks, we moved inside and took our seats. I was at the same table with @ninaeatshere (Nina) from Spain who I’ve become friends with since last year’s Fest, @akumagai from the Philippines joining for the first time, and @hirohurl who lives in Hiroshima Japan originally from England. The menu was full of Malaysian flavors, and for this special evening, I took a break from my vegetarian routine 😉
Everything was so tasty and went perfectly with beer. Since everyone writes on Hive Blog, we were all snapping pictures without hesitation — which made it extra fun for me too!
During the conference day, I was already amazed by the coconut-based shaved ice dessert, but the smooth coconut ice cream we had this evening was just as wonderful. I definitely experiment with coconut desserts next summer when the weather gets warm again.
An Inspiring Project - Hive Hub in Guatemala / Hive Devit Card
I was happy to be seated next to Nina, who I share love for food and whom I had also met at last year’s Hive Fest and at the Creator Days in Graz this May. And ... I got to know she’s been involved in a fascinating project! She’s already active with @worldmappin and even getting a Hive blackout tattoo—but that’s not all.
I had thought she was still living in Spain, but she’s actually been in Guatemala, volunteering at @buttcoins family's hotel while helping to establish Hive locally. She moved there right after the Graz Creator Days—how mobile!

The project involves @starkerz known with @thedistriator and @hivedebit, a debit card that allows people to spend HBD directly. We even got to see the actual Hive debit card used in Guatemala—and everyone at our table received one! I was so excited and decided to read more about @hivedebit through their posts.
Hive is getting closer to real world year by year!
In Closing
At the end of the dinner, there were speeches by @roelandp who organizes Hive Fest every year, and @arcange a Hive witness (and this year, even inside the Pudgy Penguins Polly in the second conference day!). Their words reminded me once again what a wonderful community Hive is.
I truly hope I can join Hive Fest again next year.
After the dinner, there was a drinks party, but since I had an early morning flight the next day—and my family hadn’t packed yet—I left a bit early. I also wanted to take a quick look at the Diwali celebrations in the nearby Indian district. India is something special for me. Without the country, I may not have my family :)
As expected, it was a lively mini India walk filled with lights, music, and energy. After enjoying the festive streets, I returned to the hotel, packed my bags, and began my journey back to Germany.
去年はFestの真ん中で着席形式のディナーがありましたが、今年は最終日のお別れディナーがBijan Bar & Restaurantというモダンマレーシア料理のレストランでありました。もちろんおいしいご飯についても語りますが、HBDをグアテマラでローカルコミュニティに定着させようというすごいプロジェクトについても！
おいしい・たのしいディナー
ディナーはレストランの入り口のテーブルでスタンディング形式でのドリンクからスタート。スイカの味の爽やかなドリンクで、クアラルンプールの暑さにぴったりでした。Festの開催を現地でサポートしていたマレーシアのHiveユーザーのみなさんとご一緒させていただきました。
ドリンクを飲み終えていざレストランで着席。去年のFest以来仲良くさせてもらっているスペインの @ninaeatshere 、フィリピンから今回初参加の @akumagai 、なんと広島に住んでいるという @hirohurl と一緒のテーブルになりました。メニューはこんな感じ。マレーシアの味が盛りだくさんで、この日ばかりはベジタリアンを解禁しておいしくいただきました 😉
どれもこれもおいしくてビールが合う！Hive Blogで書いているみなさんとあって写真撮りまくりだったので、私も気兼ねなく撮らせてもらいました。楽しい！
カンファレンスデーの2日目もココナッツを使ったかき氷に感動したのですが、この日の滑らかなアイスクリームもおいしかった・・・来年また暑くなったらココナッツデザートを研究したいなと思いました。
すごいプロジェクト
去年のHive Fest、今年5月にGrazで開催されたCreator Daysでもご一緒してお互い食べ物大好きなNinaと隣でうれしいなと思ったら、彼女がおもしろいプロジェクトに関わっているではないですか！World Mappinで活躍して、Hiveのブラックアウトタトゥーをして・・・でもそれだけでもすごいのに、もう一つ。
てっきりNinaはまだスペインに住んでいるのかと思ったら、グアテマラにある @buttcoins 一家のホテルでボランティアをしつつ、現地にHiveを定着させようとしていて、GrazのCreator Daysのあとからグアテマラにいたとのこと。なんて身軽なんだ。春にこんな呼びかけがあったんですね。

Distriator @thedistriator やHBDを使えるデビットカード @hivedebit を開発している @starkerz も関わっているということで、現地で使われているHiveデビットカードを見せてもらって、なんと私たちのテーブルではみんなお土産に一枚ずつもらいました！わわわ。。@hivedebit の投稿を読んで勉強したいと思います。
おわりに
会の終わりには、毎年Hive Festを開催している @roelandp さんとウィットネスで今回はペンギンの中にも入っていた @arcange さんのスピーチがあり、Hiveっていいコミュニティだなと改めて感動。来年もHive Festに来たいなと思うのでした。
このあとドリンクパーティーがあったのですが、私は翌日朝便で、かつ家族はパッキングしていないだろうし、ホテル近くのインド地区のディワリも見てみたかったしで、会場を少し早くあとにしました。
予想通りのミニインド散歩を楽しんで、ホテルに帰ってパッキングをして、ドイツへの帰路につきました。

That was a very enjoyable dinner! It was good to get to know you a bit more, and also to learn about the Hive Hub Hotel in Guatemala from @ninaeatshere - and getting that Hive debit card was very nice too!

On my flight out of KL on Monday night, I was able to see a huge number of Diwali fireworks illuminating the city from my window seat on the plane. It was a beautiful site.
