There are two ways to reach Rosarito Beach Hotel (RBH), where HiveFest will be held this year. One arrives at San Diego airport, and the other at Tijuana airport. In this post, we will share the travel logistics and the steps you must take after landing.
Pre-Journey
Download your airline's app to improve your airport experience and streamline it.
- Add passport numbers & any fast-track numbers for managing security.
- Once aboard, this is your Wi-Fi access (if your flight has it)
- This is how you keep track of your baggage. From your app, you can see if your bags made the flight. Also, it will indicate where your bags can be picked up
- Most airlines give free text messaging from your seat in the app.
Travelling with other Hiveans
If you are arriving at a similar time to another Hivean we will reach out to you beforehand and let you know so that you can meet up before your flight or when you have landed at the airport, so you can travel from the airport to RBH (Rosarito Beach Hotel) together.
Traveling by Taxi (HiveFest Travel Group on Telegram App)
If you have already bought a HiveFest ticket we have sent you an encrypted memo with the address to our telegram group called "HiveFest Travel Group" where we will pair you with a driver and arrange your transport from the airport to your accommodation.
If you planned to travel by taxi from your airport to RBH and didn't receive the encrypted memo from the @hivefest.mx23 account, you should contact https://t.me/eddiespino or https://t.me/starkerz on Telegram before you arrive and use your Hive username so that we can verify it is you.
We will then add you to our "HiveFest Travel Group" on Telegram, where we can ensure we have a driver to collect you from your airport when you arrive.
Arriving at Tijuana Airport
You can taxi directly from the airport to RBH using the "HiveFest Travel Group on Telegram".
For transfers from TIJUANA AIRPORT, it is USD 90.00 one way for one person and USD 22.50 for each additional person up to 4 passengers. These services include toll fees, parking fees at the airport, gasoline, and driver's expenses.
Please be sure to use the "HiveFest Travel Group" mentioned above so that we can pair you with a driver at the airport and bring you straight to RBH.
Arriving at San Diego Airport
When you have passed the arrivals gate, there are two main ways we recommend that you travel to RBH.
Option 1) Go from San Diego Airport to San Ysidro border station crossing (here is how: https://www.rome2rio.com/s/San-Diego-Airport-SAN/San-Ysidro) and take the Rosarito Beach Shuttle directly to Rosarito Beach hotel: https://www.rosaritobeachhotel.com/shuttle. Please note that the shuttle operates only on the following:
THURSDAY 21 SEPT: 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM. and 4:00 PM.
FRIDAY 22 SEPT, SATURDAY 23 SEPT, AND SUNDAY 24 SEPT: 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
Option 2) Take a taxi directly from the airport to RBH using the "HiveFest Travel Group on Telegram".
For transfers from/to SAN DIEGO AIRPORT, the cost is USD 180.00 one way for one person. Each additional person pays USD 45.00 for up to 4 people per taxi. These services include toll fees, parking fees at the airport, gasoline, and driver's expenses.

Crossing the US-Mexico border

If you are taking the coach or bus across the boarder, you should expect to show your passport and have your bags scanned at the border. There is often a small 20-30 USD fee to pay to cross the border if going by bus, so have it ready to hand in case you are asked to pay this fee. Usually, you don't need to show your passport or pay if you go by taxi.
Once you have passed through the international border and worked through the big merger in the bend, permit yourself to relax. You've made it to Baja California! Enjoy the Pacific Ocean! You're only a few minutes from the Rosarito Beach Hotel.
Taxi fee Reimbursement
We appreciate that the airport transfer fees using the "HiveFest Travel Group" are somewhat steep. We are using the services of a professional, proven, reliable service. For this reason, following HiveFest, we cannot make any promises. However, we would like to partially reimburse these taxi fares. How much we can reimburse depends on how much is spent overall and what is left of the HiveFest budget at the end.
For those who want to catch a cheaper taxi (non-eligible for partial reimbursement) from Tijuana Airport only, there is a great app called Eiby Taxi with cheap, regular taxis for travel - Download the app on Android or on iOS. (Uber works in Rosarito, but is not as reliable as Eiby).
Arriving at the Hotel
You'll clear the security gate to enter the hotel property. Thankfully, the entrance is ideally close to the registration desk. During busy hours, you might experience a queue. Luckily, an espresso bar is just inside the vestibule so that you can grab something. There is a spacious hotel lobby to enjoy if you'd prefer to sip and wait until the registration desk is clear.
Registration may work a bit differently from what you are used to. You will pay your full balance to the Hotel at check-in. Do be prepared to have this expense ready to pay before you arrive. You'll be assigned a porter bellman who is not only friendly and knowledgeable but will also fit you with your brand new stylish RBH bracelet that gives you access to your residential tower as well the common areas of the Hotel, including the outdoor bar, private beach entrance, and gardens.
Festival Check-in
Once you have checked into your room and rested a little, wander down to the HiveFest festival, check-in, and register that you have arrived at the event.
You must show your ticket, confirm your eating preferences, collect your name tag, HiveFest official T-shirt, Hivefest official wristband and welcome tote bag.
