Hello everyone, good morning. Today I am joining the wonderful initiative proposed by the Silver Bloggers community, entitled: The Silver Bloggers Chronicles #20 // Fads - Trends that Faded or made a Comeback. It's a very emotional topic, and I would love to extend the invitation to my friends @tonyes, @brujita18, @cirangela, @belkyscabrera, and @popurri.

“FADS // TRENDS THAT FADED OR MADE A COMEBACK.”

In this initiative, we are asked to talk about the fashions we remember from our adolescence, childhood, and youth, some of which were short-lived and others that made a comeback. For example, miniskirts, shorts, long white boots, bell-bottom pants, scarves with every outfit, Tupperware, pressure cookers, etc.

If I start to refresh my memory, I remember that during the 70s, when I was little, christening gowns were a classic, with knitted stockings, clothes full of lace and embroidery, little hats, buckle shoes, and lace everywhere. As far as I can remember, the outfits they dressed me in to wear to parties had puffed sleeves, ribbons, and lace, and the fabric was chiffon or embroidered. They made us flared skirts and even long dresses.

We wore sweater-style blouses with buttons down the front and wide-leg pants. My mom wore Swedish clogs with thick rubber soles that looked like bricks, and I saw that style come back years ago, but no way, I couldn't handle that much weight, ha ha ha. Similarly, wide-leg pants came back several times, and I didn't like them.

By the time I was a teenager and young adult, the 80s had arrived, and that's when I really enjoyed the best fashion that will always be my favorite. Like in the 70s, record players and cassettes were popular in that decade, and I still have a nice collection of them. The trend of recording cassettes with the songs of the moment took off, and record stores not only sold their own creations but also recorded songs at the request of customers. That way, we had a compilation of our favorite and most popular songs of the moment on a single cassette. In addition to our own creations recorded from the radio, we would wait for the song we liked to come on.

Apart from the trend for tousled hairstyles and bouffant quiffs, I enjoyed accessories such as leather belts in various colors, leg warmers, shoulder pads on all my shirts, skinny pants, and cotton lycra jumpsuits with knee-length flannel tops, scarves in the hair, cotton sweater-style sweatshirts, ballet flats with a bow at the back, very large colorful earrings, the craze for lip gloss, patent leather sneakers, blue jean skirts and shorts, Lycra tights, and something very particular that I don't know if you remember, the arrival of Snoopy, Hello Kitty, and other cartoon characters, and the whole collection of notebooks, pencils, cards, etc., that we bought just to keep, because we didn't want to use them and damage them.

My friends and I got into the habit of filling our notebooks with stickers of these characters, or drawing them ourselves, so that our school notebooks looked more like scrapbooks than class notebooks. I still have some of those notebooks, including others that I improvised to write down memories of our group of friends. I don't have many photographs from that time, but I do have some to recreate this content with those beautiful memories of a fashion that became the best trend of all time.

From the 90s, perhaps fresher memories, I remember when I started collecting my first CDs, and I bought them at Macro in Puerto La Cruz because they weren't sold here yet. It was a very popular trend among collectors, especially when copies began to be sold on the street. I bought them by the dozen because they were so cheap. And Tupperware, needless to say, is part of my entrepreneurial history, because I was a saleswoman and presenter when I was newly married, and I remember that instead of taking my earnings, I invested them in buying pots because they were cheaper for me, ha ha ha. Don't ask me where they are today. They went through the typical process of being used to carry soups or cakes on weekends and birthdays, and they never came back... Since that day, my “Tupperware” for distributing food has been butter jars.

My son and my younger brother love the songs that were popular in the 80s. They even have a playlist of the best ones. A few days ago, my daughter was at an 80s-themed birthday party, and when I saw her outfit, it took me back to that era, even to the movies. (The photo is courtesy of her.)

Hola a todos, muy buenos días. Hoy me integro a la hermosa iniciativa propuesta por la comunidad Silver Bloggers, titulada: The Silver Bloggers Chronicles #20 // Fads - Trends that Faded or made a Comeback. Es un tema muy emotivo, y me encantaría extender la invitación a mis amigos @tonyes, @brujita18, @cirangela, @belkyscabrera, y @popurri.

”MODAS // TENDENCIAS QUE DESAPARECIERON O VOLVIERON.”

En esta iniciativa nos piden relatar acerca de las modas que recordamos de nuestra adolescencia, niñez, juventud, y que algunas duraron poco tiempo y otras regresaron. Por ejemplo las minifaldas, los pantalones cortos, las botas blancas largas, los pantalones acampanados, los pañuelos con cada conjunto, los utensilios Tupperware, ollas a presión, etc.

Si comienzo a refrescar mi memoria, recuerdo que durante los años 70, yo estaba pequeña, y los trajecitos de bautizo eran un clásico, con las mediecitas tejidas, la ropita llena de encajes y bordados, sombreritos, zapatitos de hebilla, y un mundo de encajes por todos lados. Más o menos hago memoria, los trajecitos que me ponían para vestir o ir a fiestas, llevaban mangas globo, cintas y encajes, y la tela era de chifón o tela bordada, las faldas acampanadas y hasta vestidos largos nos hacían.

Se usaban las blusas de telas tejidas tipo suéter y con botones por delante, con pantalones bota ancha. Mi mamá usaba unos suecos con el tacón grueso corrido de goma que parecían unos ladrillos, y ese modelo lo vi volver años atrás y qué va, yo no soporté tanto peso, jajaja. Igualmente los pantalones bota ancha, regresaron varias veces y no me gustaron.

Ya en mi adolescencia y juventud, habían entrado los años 80, y allí sí disfruté las mieles de una moda que para mí siempre será la mejor de todas. Al igual que los años 70, en esa década se usaba el tocadiscos, y los casetes, de los cuales conservo una bonita colección. La moda de grabar casetes con las canciones del momento hizo furor, y las disco tiendas no sólo vendían sus propias creaciones, sino que grababan las canciones a petición de los clientes, de esa manera teníamos en un solo casete, una recopilación de los temas favoritos y más sonados del momento. Aparte de nuestras propias creaciones grabadas desde la radio, montándole guardia a la transmisión de la canción que nos gustaba.

Aparte de la moda de los peinados de cabello alborotado, o los copetes abombados, disfruté los accesorios como los cinturones de cuero en variados colores, los calentadores, las hombreras en todas mis camisas, los pantalones tubitos y los monos de cotón licra con franelones hasta la rodilla, las pañoletas en el cabello, las franelas tipo suéter de algodón, los escarpines con la bolita detrás, los zarcillos muy grandes de colores, el furor de los brillos labiales, las zapatillas de patente, las faldas y shorts de tela de blue-jean, las medias panty de licra, y algo muy particular que no sé si recuerdan, la llegada de los animados de Snoopy, Hello Kitty, entre otros, y toda la colección de cuadernos, libretas, lápices, tarjetas, etc., que comprábamos para guardarlos nada más, porque no queríamos usarlos para no dañarlos.

Una manía que agarramos mis amigas y yo, fue llenar los cuadernos de calcomanías de estos animados, o dibujarlos nosotras mismas, y así los cuadernos del colegio parecían una libreta de notas más que un cuaderno de clases. Aún conservo algunos de esos cuadernos, incluso otros que improvisé para escribir recuerdos del grupo de amigos. No tengo muchas fotografías de aquella época, pero sí algunas para recrear un poco este contenido con esos hermosos recuerdos de una moda que se convirtió en la mejor tendencia de todos los tiempos.

De los años 90, quizás memorias más frescas, recuerdo cuando comencé a coleccionar mis primeros CD, y los compraba en Macro de Puerto La Cruz porque aquí aún no los vendían, fue una moda muy marcada para los coleccionistas sobre todo cuando comenzaron a venderse las copias en la calle, yo compraba por docenas por lo baratos que eran. Y de los Tupperware, ni hablar, forma parte de mi historia de emprendimientos, porque fui vendedora y presentadora cuando estaba recién casada, y recuerdo que en vez de agarrar mis ganancias, las invertía en comprar peroles porque me salían más baratos, jajaja. Hoy en día no me pregunten dónde están, pasaron por el típico proceso de llevarse sopitas o tortas los fines de semana y cumpleaños, y más nunca regresaron… desde ese día mis “tuper” para repartir comida son los potes de mantequilla.

Mi hijo y mi hermano menor son amantes de las canciones que estaban de moda en los años 80, hasta tienen una playlist de las mejores, y días atrás mi hija estuvo en un cumpleaños al estilo de los 80, y me regresó a la época incluso de las películas, cuando vi su look. (La foto es cortesía de ella)

Realmente las modas por cada década nos marcan de alguna manera, algunas regresan para quedarse, y otras no vuelven más, pero todas nos han dejado huellas impresas, incluso en nuestros hijos.
