There are many ways for someone who wants to help put veterans to do so. Below I give some quick summaries of how you can do it. In future posts I will expand on each one in more detail to give you even more help and assistance to make it even easier.
First, before I share how we can help them, I want to discuss why helping our military veterans around the world should be so important. There are several reasons why we should consider helping veterans, but a few are:
Service to your country
Veterans have made tremendous sacrifices in service to their respective country. They often times put their lives in harms way to protect their fellow countrymen's way of life. Helping veterans is a way to show some gratitude for their service and sacrifice to you and your country.
Supporting their needs
Many veterans face challenges when they return to civilian life. These challenges are often physical and mental health issues, homelessness, and unemployment. Helping veterans can ensure that they receive the support and resources they need to lead successful and fulfilling lives.
Bringing unique skills and experiences
Veterans can bring a unique set of skills and experiences to the table, such as leadership, discipline, and teamwork. Hiring veterans or working with them in volunteer capacities can bring valuable perspectives and insights to you and your organization.
Strengthening our communities
Veterans are an important part of our communities and helping them can strengthen our communities as a whole. By ensuring that veterans have the resources and support they need, we can create a more vibrant and resilient society.
Paying it forward
Helping veterans is a way to pay it forward and ensure that future generations of veterans receive the support and appreciation they deserve.
Overall, helping veterans is a way to show gratitude for their service and sacrifice, support their needs, and strengthen our communities.
Now, on to how one can help out our veterans. Below are just a few ways we can help our veterans. Like I said, I will go into more detail on each of the following in future posts.
Donate to veteran-focused organizations: There are numerous organizations that work to support veterans and their families. Donating to these organizations is a great way to provide financial support to those who have served your country. Examples of such organizations in the United States include Wounded Warrior Project, Fisher House Foundation, and Disabled American Veterans.
Volunteer your time: Many veteran organizations rely on volunteers to help with various tasks. You can help by volunteering your time at a local veteran hospital, participating in a veteran-focused event or program, or even mentoring a veteran who is transitioning back to civilian life.
Advocate for veteran-friendly policies: You can help by advocating for policies that support veterans, such as increased funding for veteran programs, expanded access to mental health care, and improved job opportunities for veterans.
Hire veterans: If you are an employer, consider hiring veterans. Many veterans have valuable skills and experiences that can benefit your organization, and hiring them is a great way to show your support for their service.
Show gratitude: One of the simplest ways to help veterans is to show your gratitude for their service. This can be as simple as saying "thank you" when you meet a veteran, or writing a letter of appreciation to a veteran organization. Your words of gratitude can go a long way in showing veterans that their service is appreciated.

How do you get the Veteran's on Hive banner to attach to your post. I've not figured out all the in's and out's here yet!
I downloaded it from the discord group to my computer, then attach it to the post and add the link to the community site.
Thanks! I might use it in some posts to push the community and help out visibility. Hopefully it will help. Did you delegate any HP to silver gold stackers?
I can totally understand what you're saying, people do not realize that physical scars heal, but mental wounds would stay with one forever.

I agree with donating to veterans' charities but, there is always one good organization in there, please go to https://www.charitynavigator.org/ and check out operating expenses to their total budget. Many pay out almost as much as they get in operating expenses and have very little to actually help veterans.
You ask why I am skeptical of these organizations, here is the reason I started diving into many of these things. I came back from Iraq and was laid up for 2 years because of surgeries and such and could not just right into the work field and took so long for veteran benefits and such to get approved and started. I asked for help from the veterans organizations and they never had anything to help. From that, we lost our house and sold just about everything we had to start over again. Which was so stressful for my family that I have many regrets from that.
I think it would be much better to do a benefit in the community to help a veteran in your community because the money raised actually goes to the veteran and not an organization.
I am not bitter, well maybe a little, but I believe there are better ways than donating to a veteran organization to help veterans in each of our communities.
Ok, rant is done! I just know that there are better and more ways to help veterans that using many of the veteran organizations.
Thank you for sharing the link to charity navigator. That will be a big help for many in making an informed decision. I included the three just because they are ones that are recognizable. For some I thought it would make it easy for them to get started I guess.
I appreciate you adding to the conversation in this way. It helps those that do not know understand what veterans go through and deal with everyday. Sorry to hear you had to deal with all that and some of these organizations did not come through for you and your family when you needed them most.
Yes, local community fundraising I feel is always best as well. If one can find a cuase to give to that is preferred.
Again, thank you for sharing your experience and perspective. I think it helps add so much more information to consider for this post that I did not include or consider myself.
Semper Fi,
Joe
veterans give their lives for us, they take care of our countries and deserve to be respected. We can all help in some way to make them feel valued.
Yes, just doing a little something like on the list above would go a long way. It doesn't have to be monetary at all. A little time spent talking with them or just listening sometimes means a great deal to us.
I cannot begin to imagine the mental scars left by any war; many young men are scarred for life after having to face the horrors of war, and while physical scars heal, the agony of what they've experienced cannot be erased!
The world tends to brush this under the carpet, so it's something we don't think about, until reading a publication such as yours.
Take care of yourself @coinjoe
Thank you @lizelle. Yes, war is a major factor for veteran needs. They will suffer from physical and mental trauma for life sometimes. However some veterans have never served in a conflict, but still suffer from physical and mental challenges. The training and lifestyle is often very rigorous and realistic and takes its toll. However, with the proper love and support from their country and countrymen, they can overcome.
I have known many veterans over my lifetime from my father, grandfather, and I am married to one. Thank you for sharing!
Thank them for me. Being married to a veteran has its own challenges. Bless you.
