I don't know what the vegan options are like in Sth Africa but here in Australia (at least in major cities) it's easy enough for me to order a "meat tasting" vegan burger for Brad and if didn't tell him it wasn't meat he wouldn't be able to taste the difference. Though I never bother trying to trick him, 1. Because I like being trustworthy and 2. Because he's seen and heard enough evidence now of the crazy health benefits of eating way more plant based, so he's all in (as long as it's easy!)
