I don't get the backlash to the new Superman film. I grew up with the Christopher Reeve films. The Superman who smiled to the camera as he flew around the earth. More than anything, that Christopher Reeve/Superman kindness influenced my life. To me, the new film is a great follow up. Yeah, it's not perfect, but the overall feeling was wonderful. So much better than all the "dark" DC superhero films that have been coming out since Batman 89.
The attacks against it are probably being led by the rightwing in the US. The MAGAs. They are so nationalist that they see everything as an attack against them, including Superman. It reminds me of something I read from a preacher a few weeks ago. He said that he recently gave a sermon about the sermon on the mount. After church, he had numerous people come up to him and complain about how the sermon was "liberal shit". He responded to one of these people, saying "But this was the actual words of Jesus", to which the guy replied "That may have worked then, but times change. Jesus would have changed too. He wouldn't be a Libtard."
So... yeah.
