Earlier today, Mrs. Denmarkguy and I were standing in the kitchen having a discussion about Thanksgiving.

Specifically, we were talking about how Thanksgiving might be very difficult for a large number of families here in the USA because of the government shutdown. After all, some 42 million people depend substantially on the food stamp program to eat, and as long as the government shutdown persists the food stamp program will not be funded.
Now, food stamps in the United States is a supplemental program for people who are low income, and not intended to buy every grocery need. Even so, suddenly not having $500 for food — and during holiday season — will be a crisis for these folks.
I don't remember the exact question we were asking each other at the moment, but Mrs. Denmarkguy ended with "usually everything turns out allright," but in the brief pause after that statement a very clearly audible "are you sure about that?" could be heard. It came from neither of us, and neither of us had our phones in the room nor any electronic devices connected to Alexa, Siri, Google or any other AI assistance.
Quite literally a very clear and audible Are you sure about that came out of thin air and we both heard it.

We looked to see if a window had been left open and maybe it was being spoken by somebody outside, but that was not the case and we wouldn't have been able to hear it anyway because there was a fair amount of wind, rustling the leaves in the trees, which would have drowned out any voices from the outside.
In the end, we could not determine the source of the voice.
It sounded electronically based, like it was a synthesized voice rather than a human voice but you couldn't be sure about that because it was spoken at a pretty low volume. However there was no doubt about the words, and no doubt about the fact that we heard exactly the same thing at exactly the same time.
And so, this ended up simply being put into the big box of "mysteries that cannot be explained."
Maybe we've all had mysterious and unexplainable incidents in our lives at one point or another.

Many years ago, I had a precognitive dream several weeks ahead of attending a 5-day retreat in California. After I landed in the airport in Oakland and made my way towards the rental car area, everything seemed so clearly familiar, even though I had never been to the Oakland airport before.
I went and got the paperwork done and got the keys to my rental car and I remembered the dream in which I ended up giving a ride to a woman who was also going to the same retreat, but she was having trouble with her reservation and ended up stranded without a car.
For no reason other than idle curiosity I decided to "follow the dream" so I took a seat, fully expecting that I was just going to be proving to myself that it was a complete case of delusion to believe such a thing. But sure enough, the woman from my dream showed up — looking exactly as I remembered, promptly ended up having problems with her reservation, was unable to get another car... at which point I nervously approached her and asked her if she was going to this particular retreat.

Which, of course, she was. Although she was clearly a liitle freaked out by my approach, thankfully this happened almost 25 years ago, before a man trying to talk to a woman stranger was cause for lawsuits and social shaming as a creep.
Then we took the 90 minute drive out to the retreat center, once she had gotten over the idea that a stranger had come up to her and stated that I was supposed to give her a ride because I had had a dream. It was quite surreal...
What is that? How can that be explained?
Mrs. Denmarkguy once told me about a time at which she decided not to go with a friend (when she was quite young), because she had a really bad feeling about getting into the car going to an event.
So she ended up staying at home, based purely on the bad feeling, and learned the next morning that her friend had actually been murdered while leaving the event that she had attended.
What is that? How can that be explained?
It would be easy to say that it's "just extreme coincidence," but I do believe that there are things between heaven and earth that we just do not have explanations for at this time, but that maybe we will understand in another 20 or 50 years.
Science gets a little narcissistic at times... in the sense that it believes that it has all the answers already and there are no new answers ahead that might require changing everything we know. I happen to be open to the possibility that we know almost nothing and that we will have to throw away lots of what we know to adapt to new knowledge coming in.
Thanks for coming by, and have a great remainder of your week mysterious or otherwise!
