The Beauty of Nature — Creativity in a Different Form

in Silver Bloggers15 days ago

Yes, I'm a blogger, and a writer... and I would go as far as to say that writing is my primary creative expression.

That said, I'm also in a life-long love affair with nature, as a result of much that particular aspect of creativity fits well into my blogging world.

I'm always happy to be able to say "all the photos are my own," when I publish something.

And sometimes the words run dry, and instead I just want the photos to speak for me, because they express what I see around me far more eloquently than my words can.

I love the spring, particularly when the fruit trees are in bloom.

At the moment, it is our apple trees that are in bloom, in spite of some substantial autumn pruning, and then our rather extreme freeze this winter.

Perhaps we stop to appreciate the beauty of a flowering tree, but how often do we take the time to really look?

Apple blossoms are some of the most beautiful of spring flowers with their delicate white-to-pink shading, and huge clusters of flowers.

Do you get close enough to see the delicate veining in the petals?

And those blooms actually have a very delicate sweet scent.

Sometimes it's hard to believe that in a few months, these delicate blooms will turn into hundreds of pounds of sweet apples!

This is also about the time of the year when we first get to see whether there are bees in the area.

They are very fond of apple blossoms, but cold winters often mean the bees are few and far between.

1132-Apple06.jpg

Wait a minute... that's no bee!

We get all manners of visitors to the apple trees, and to the garden, in general.

We're very grateful that our apple trees are healthy because we have had some issues with "herbicide drift" from people who live up the hill from us. Lost several lilac bushes, and our rhubarb to that...

Most people don't really think through how much damage their spraying can do... even when they think they are being "careful."

Water runs downhill... and some of the stuff stays in the ground, and may take several years to travel several hundred yards.

Sure, it's diluted, but even a concentration of 1/100th of what it takes a herbicide to kill weeds can still damage delicate plants.

So please be careful out there, when you're trying to get rid of weeds!

Well, I guess I ended up doing more than just sharing a few pictures... but I mostly just wanted to share the beauty of apple blossoms!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great remainder of your week!

If we had known we would still be living in this house 25 years later, we would have planted some apple trees! Apple blossoms are, indeed, wonderful. Glad your trees weren't seriously damaged by the weird winter.
