When Life is Calling...

Funny how much things (perspectives) change when you add the passing time factor into the daily ongoings of life.

I remember when I first got Internet service — sometime in the early 1990s — we were always talking about "real life" and "cyberspace" like they were two completely separate and unconnected things. Sure, once in a while we'd end up meeting somebody whom we also had interactions with online... but it was a rarity.

These days life is just life and you either have your cell phone in your hand, or you're on the computer or your work in "real" life involves a large element of being online. There's not much separation anymore. We no longer think of "here" and "there" as separate things.

I say that as I'm going to share the update that I haven't really been here and writing nearly as much as I normally am because "real life" has been keeping me busy. Which basically means there's a lot going on in the part of life that doesn't involve Internet.

In addition, my artwork has been keeping me particularly busy because we're in the process of migrating the website from an old domain to a new domain (Mrs. Denmarkguy is, among other things, a graphic artist and web designer who has FORGOTTEN more things about Wordpress than most people will ever know) and migrating multiple online shops we had before into a single location, and I'm also in the middle of re-photographing a lot of the work that is out there so the photographs of things we're trying to sell don't look quite as dated.

As I'm doing these things, I think of that in terms of "being busy with real life."

Sometimes I find myself sitting back and wondering about the lives of some of the people in this community that I've gotten to know — at least in this virtual space — over the years and what their real lives look like.

And I think about the people in my life — and yes, there are some — who pretty much are *never * online; they have no social media accounts and barely know how to use email. Are their lives more "real" than yours or mine?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Friday!
